Always poor reception, and constant dropped calls. It is strictly the coverage no the phone or the cell company.

Absolutely Pathetic - Signal strength 'indicator' seems to follow billboards much better than calls. Cingular's the only carrier I've ever had to routinely drop calls with '5 bars' of signal strength. My guess is that their marketing department has a much better stranglehold on their 'bars' than their towers.

Daytime reception is average. At times it will work seamlessly, then I'll recieve calls that go directly to voicemail. Night time is atrocious. Calls are bounced because of the influx of "free nights and weekend" callers. It takes repeated call attempts to reconnect. Manchaca road, forget it, usually there's no reception.

The sound isn't terribly clear, sometimes it helps to step outside the house. I can actually walk or ride my bike around the entire neighborhood and yak on the phone for an hour or so and the call doesn't drop, tho I may have to backtrack to improve reception. I get decent reception on calls around my office downtown near the Capitol also. Still, I'm thinking of trying Verizon to see if I can get better clarity, or maybe someone can recommend a better phone. Clarity is particularly a problem with voicemail, sometimes I really can't hear parts of the messages. As a side note, Suncom (an AT&T subsidiary) and AT&T were great back in the day, once Cingular bought AT&T that was the end of that.

This service, perhaps it is the phone often looses calls no matter how many bars I have. I use it for business locally and am considering another carrier.

Reception sucks in this area inside buildings. Better outside.

I am so frustrated, because 9 times out of 10 I cannot dial out on my phone when calling from home. When driving in Austin it's spotty just about everywhere. But where I need it most is at home and the service is so lousy and all I get is a recording saying my call cannot be connected at this time. Well what am I going to do if there's an emergency?! I pay lots of money to Cingular each month and for what?! This is such a rip off and it sucks that I'm locked into a contract with them for a service that doesn't work.

Since Cingular took over At&T it has been very poor service. I have been with AT&T Long Distance since 1965 and with their cell service since 1990 Will drop both this month - Thank God my cell contract ends this month - Going to TY-Mobile adn Virezon

On the way from work all along 290 / 71 West and to MOPAC south from there HORRIBLE reception. During the 20 minute car ride, I drop between 4 and 8 calls - depending how patient I am with calling back as it gets frustrating beyond belief. I am dropping Cingular at the end of the contract, but who I am going to get when everyone seems to have POOR reception?
