I live close to San Jose Church between S. 1st St. and Lamar. Reception from home is usually 1 to 2 bars. I cant walk and talk at the same time without the reception breaking up a lot of the time. Reception on S. Congress is slightly better, maybe 3 bars. Sprint had better reception than T-Mobile. The sound is always crackly with a lot of dropped words, very annoying, especially when talking with clients. Was this review helpful to you?
Occasionally I get reception inside my home, but it quickly drops to no reception - and that's while I'm sitting still! I can't walk and talk at the same time. Cingular swears there's plenty of towers in the neighborhood but my neighbor has the same problem, and he has Verizon. I'm getting a land line. Was this review helpful to you?
I've just moved here from Washington DC where Verizon is king. Sadly it is Austin's redheaded step-child. I have dropped calls daily. I usually have only 1 bar along S. Congress. At the office, I have to run to a window to try to keep calls from dropping... usually doesn't work. I'm moving to the Lost Creek 78746 area soon and expect things to go downhill quickly based on comments from that area! Was this review helpful to you?
Pathetic most of the time. Regretting getting rid of me land line. Argh. Was this review helpful to you?
Bars are good but can'e hear a thing or be heard from W.Cannon to Slaughter and 1826. What's the deal with 4-5 bar areas that you can't get service? Was this review helpful to you?
Why does cell receotion suck so bad in Austin? I don't know anyone with any phone with any carrier that has good reception. Talking on my cell phone is too frustrating. I won't do it unless I have to now. Most of my calls cosist of "What? You'll have to say that again, you're cutting out" repeat three or four times before the call is dropped. I don't understand why. It's Austin, Tx. It's not like I'm in the middle of freaking nowhere. Cell companies, how bout you start taking a little pride in the products and services you offer and step it up.Was this review helpful to you?
Most of the time it is completely impossible to have a conversation either inside or outside the house. I thought maybe it was the phone but it works fine most everywhere else in town. Looking at the map its seems like there isn't much coverage in this area from any carrier, especially Tmobile. On the other hand, friends have T-Mobile in the area and it is ok.Was this review helpful to you?
I get 2 bars here, and can make calls, but folks on Verizon are on roaming in this valley! Was this review helpful to you?
My reception starts to drop as soon as I turn off of Mopac onto Barton Skyway. The parking lot area of my apartment will provide 1 or 2 bars, but I have to stand in certain areas. Walking down the sidewalk will cause a dropped call. Inside the apartment, I'm lucky if the phone will detect any service at all. Since moving to Austin, I've had to subscribe to Vonage to get decent phone service at home. Was this review helpful to you?
AT&T Wireless (GSM)
Used to live off South Lamar and Panther, then moved to Barton Skyway on the Mopac side, now coverage is alot better. 5 bars always. Capital of Texas highway going west can be spotty, but overall, good service. Some garble around Dittmar and Manchaca, but easier to point out the 2 or 3 problems, but no one reallly complains about calls withe meWas this review helpful to you?
