Coverage in this neighborhood is great, but if you live in the 5350 Burnet apartments, you will need to buy a network extender. There is almost no service at all inside the building. This seems to be a problem for people on the first floor, in particular. Before I got a network extender, I couldn't carry on any conversations on my phone at all. Couldn't send texts, either. With the equipment, it's much, much better. My phone's GPS has no idea where I am when I'm connected through the extender, but that's fine. If I need to look up a map at home, I can just do it on my computer.

I just dropped off my daughter at Jester Dorm at Univ of Texas. AT&T has no coverage in a dorm with 3000 students! I was in the lobby and outside trying to call my daughter's cell and I had four bars (as did she) and no calls went through. You dial the number and you just get silence. I asked the receptionist in the dorm and she said it was long standing problem. This is crazy in many ways including the fact that I was staying on campus in the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center! This is one of the largest dorms in the US and there are no land line phones in the dorm rooms. How can AT&T not put up a tower nearby to fix this mess. Same problem with text messaging by the way.

I just moved to this location. Indoors, that is inside my house, I get essentially no reception. I can occasionally get a EV-DO network readout (with no bars), and I can get a ring through, but not enough signal conduct a full phone call or to keep the call from dropping 50% of the time. Outside, I get 1 bar, which is usually enough to finish a phone call. Ultimately, I will have to switch networks.

no bars in apartment. called several times and they just gave me some bs about how they couldn't do anything about it.

There is absolutely no consistent reception in this area. I called AT&T, waiting over an hour to get to the right person, and was told that AT&T had no plans to add any towers or improve the reception. Our cell phones are worthless here.

For being boost, it works really well, had it for a month, and only one dropped calls. I can hear the other party that I am talking to almost crystal clear. For being prepaid / 50 a month it is amazing. Draw backs are internet is super slow and text messaging always "downloads" the message and is A LOT slower than any other carrier I have had.

Super fast 3G coverage everywhere in the area (though I do have trouble getting service in a few buildings on the UT campus-especially underground).

Signal has improved a lot over the past year. Outside is always 5 bars, inside apt is 3-5 bars depending on how close to the outside wall I am.

Don't let the bars fool you - the reception is crap. I've been told by AT&T that I'm just inside a pocket of "moderate" 3G coverage, and they recommend I try E instead. I get voicemail notifications all the time without having missed a call. The worst thing is that when people call, it rings twice then goes silent for about 10 seconds, during which time most people just hang up and tell me later that my phone is messed up!

Horrible reception here with Sprint. Apparently the Treo Pro doesn't help either. I really want to cancel my contract. Sprint has been absolutely no help. They kind of just say sorry your in a bad area. They really shouldn't sell me their service if it doesn't work. Hopefully I can use this leverage of the fact that where I live is a kind of dead zone to get out of the disconnect fee.
