AT&T
AT&T service in this area is flat out inadequate. Dropped calls are the norm for me. I end up having to call AT&T constantly to remove "roaming" charges from the Mexican Movistar service which constantly hits my phone. I've been with AT&T for years but am switching. On a scale of 1-to-10 in call continuity and reception, the best I can get on AT&T at any given time is a 3. The norm is more a "1" and I have to keep moving around my house to hear my calls.

There is no 3g whatsoever on the entire Westside in El Paso Tx. We got 3g since September 2009 only in downtown Mesa St. and the Eastside, but they left the entire community of the Westside with no reception on 3g; Even Cricket has coverage in those areas.

Verizon works very very well! I go to Mexico on business trips and the roaming rates are very low. Very happy with Verizon. I will never switch. The network here is very reliable.

I get very poor service with Nextel. I had Sprint and they said Nextel was better, well its NOT! I'm paying the ETF and switching to Verizon Wireless PTT. The Customer service is crap on Sprint Nextel anyway.

In the military, I've traveled all over the US and signal has been fine with AT&T until I got to El Paso. No signal at work and no signal at home. What is it good for?

Verizon is the best provider in El Paso FOR SURE. the only place that it doesn't do to well in is far into Soccoro area but it doesn't go below 2 bars but does not affect call quality

I'm so frustrated with border town reception, it's stupid! My phone randomly jumps from TELCEL to ATT service. My wife's T-Mobile G1 and my T-Mobile iPhone work fine in this area. They really need to invest in more towers out here.

It sucked for the longest time. dropped calls every call. but they fixed it and it works great now

For the longest time, only T-Mobile had a reliable signal, but regardless, I still prefer T-Mobile over the other ones. Sprint users shouldn't even bother, even though they claim to have "mammoth coverage in El Paso," and AT&T has to roam off of T-Mobile. Furthermore, while Verizon finally got coverage here, it's still not that great, and I much prefer being able to roam internationally without having to having a specific "World Edition" phone, and plus being able to switch phones easily with just a switch of a SIM card is invaluable. Go T-Mobile!

I've been on every network except AT&T and Verizon has been the best by far. There are only 2 drop spots in el paso by UTEP and in the middle of transmountain. Otherwise I've had nothing but excellent customer service. The reception and data service with the blackberry is awesome. The evdo network for data service is by far the fastest and to tether the phone like a modem is just as fast for me as roadrunnner internet service. I used to be on Sprint and my father on Verizon and we rode our motorcycles all the way up to sturgis south Dakota. I had reception up until Denver on Sprint and my father had reception on Verizon all the way up and back to include in the forests of south Dakota and at mt. Rushmore. As far as call reception with the pearl its awesome and I don't recall having dropped any calls with Verizon except in the aforementioned 2 dead spots in el paso but I had that problem with Sprint and my wife had the same problem with cricket before we both went to verizon. I get service in the back roads of old mesilla on the motorcycle and even in the trees of stahmanns pecan ranch. I can't say enough about the data service and speed of the internet. The blackberry was built for emails and I get them at lightning speed even faster than I get them on the server at work. We recently got some demo phones for work from AT&T and the days transfer isn't anywhere near the speed of verizons evdo network. I love cell phones and I get a new one every couple of months and the blackberry by far has been the best in reception and data. I had a Motorola q a palm treo with Sprint and a lot of other older phones. I'm deaf practically and I need a phone I can really hear. The blackberry for me is loud enough and the volume isn't even on high. When the blackberry curve comes out I'm going to get it because my wife loves the pearl I use curently and she can't stand her complicated Motorola q. I guess I rushed too much to get her that one and now she can't stand it so hopefully I can win back favor in giving her the pearl once the curve comes out. I hope my review was a little helpful and not drawn out too long.
