AT&T Wireless (GSM)
I get "no service" or "Emergency Only" all the time now. I loved ATT TDMA service... GSM SUCKS. I got dropped calls all the time around AZ Mills Mall, dropped calls on Southern and Mill. Reception in my house is 0. no service. I have to stand outside to get 1-2 bars... and even then it cuts in and out.

Although reception has been generally good in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area, it has been very poor in the vicinity of my home. Often can't call out at all. Incoming calls frequently don't ring and are routed to voice mail. Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint network so results for Sprint in these area may well be similar. I used to have a Verizon phone, and their coverage was quite good. I switched from Verizon to Virgin Mobile because I don't use a cell phone much and never even came close to using my monthly air time quota.

I understand what some of the other respondents have said in regards to cell service in east Mesa, recently T mobile and Sprint put up a cell tower at the South East corner of the above listed cross roads (looks like a great big palm tree), now I have no dropped calls, and the service is great. But before that, I would average about 25-55% dropped calls. I've noticed that T mobile has installed alot of new towers along McKellips too. Sprint is good about giving credits for dropped calls, but you need to call *2 then say dropped calls for the 50 cent per dropped call alowance (up to $10.00 per phone, per month)

Have been an AT&T Customer for over 2 years with no problems. Recently upgraded my phone and jumped over to Cingular's GSM Network. Have had nothing but problems. Calls drops consistantly. I would not recommend Cingular in the greater Phoenix area.

Phone drops calls all the time in this area. T-Mobile and AT&T (pre-merger) worked better, but I can't port my number to either one of them.

Dropped calls, so many I can't count them, and forget trying to drive to work (through downtown Mesa) because there are so many dead spots. My advice-get a diffrent carrier

Just made the switch from CDMA (Verizon) to GSM (Cingular) Coverage at my house and at work (Ray and Rural in Chander) are as good or better with Cingular than it was with Verizon. Im very satisfied.

With T-Mobile it really depends onthe phone you are useing.. Fro example with a moterola or erickson phone you will find bad reception but with a Samsung phone you should expireiance the best coverage available. Better than all other carriers..
