Sprint

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Viewridge | Skyline and Swan, Tucson, AZ 85718 |

Best voice coverage in the Foothills of the three carriers I have used here which is saying a lot because this area is not competetive so far as cell service.

Voice conversations is all but impossible; however, you will be able to send / recieve texts. I think Verizon just wrote off coverage in the Foothills north of Sunrise. Dropped Verizon when I moved here in 2008, too bad because I had no previous problem with them. They are the carrier on my work phone so I can confirm the situation hasn't improved.

The phone companies are sticking it to the American people. High prices for lousy service. We are going back to a land line!

Sprint

Have had Sprint for 2 years. Internet signal at home is horrible. It drops calls often. Terrible. I'm looking into getting another carrier with AT&T or Verizon. I've had issues with T-Mobile billing in the past where my payment wasn't posted on my acct. When I clearly had it withdrawn from my bank. Sent proof nothing was ever done and it was reported to the credit bearu.

AT&T

3 Out of 5 (3 stars) | Grant | Mountain, Tucson, AZ 85719 |

I have At&T and one thing I have noticed with their service is that it largely depends on the phone you are using. When I got a basic phone from At&T (initial 2 year contract), no issues whatsoever inside or outside work (UofA) or home. I didn't yet want to upgrade to a smart phone but bought a more upgraded phone- not from them and the reception was terrible. No reception at all inside the building and after stepping out, took 5 mins to get tuned to the network. Recently, got a phone from AT&T again and the reception is back to being fantastic. I don't know whether they have better network receiving abilities on their phone but I have definitely observed this over a period of 5 years with them.

7-30-13 -- I just got an LG800G TracFone and the T-Mobile signal strength goes up and down very fast. I don't see why it can't just remain steady one way or the other, either terrible or less terrible. According to the very helpful map, however, their tower is the closest to this area. I need to research the fading problem.

Had Sprint for 5 years. No real problems at my house. My drive to work on skyline is not very good. Drop calls frequently. Connecting to internet is very difficult.

I just got service with Sprint about 3 days ago, got a new Galaxy S4. Wi-Fi works like a charm, however neither my home, office or any of the 35 miles in-between get 4G signal, and the 3G is unreliable at BEST. I turn off my wi-fi to test out my 3g (im paying for unlimited data, after all... ) and will get "network error, retry" when going to the internet. Once I finally got connected to the Play store it took me almost 20 minutes to download a 2.3 MB application. No wonder the Sprint prices are so unbeatable. When I first signed up for the service I said to myself "how in the WORLD can they offer unlimited data for so cheap?" well... if you are unable to ever make use of that unlimited data,... .thats how. So I am paying for unlimited data and only able to download stuff when I am on Wi-Fi. Needless to say, I will be canceling my service within the 14 day return policy and going back to Verizon. They might not be cheap, but I would rather pay $90 per month for 2GB of reliable data than $70 per month for unlimited (ZERO) data.

AT&T

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Rancho Sahuarita and Davis-Monthan AFB | Vail, Sahuarita, AZ 85629 |

Would have liked to select No Reception, but occasionally does work. However, it is usually only 2 bars and still using the Edge network. This includes Rancho Sahuarita, Vail, Davis-Monthan AFB

Tmobile in oro valley is TERRIBLE! I only get 2g network, and only one bar. The service is only good in downtown tucson area, though is fluctuates between 2g and 4g. But the 2g calls are horrible, you cant hear the person nor can they hear you. Its a safe bet to go with AT&T rather than tmobile, unless you live in downtown area.
