Alltel

About a year ago I had great reception with Alltel. I had good reception everywhere I went, including my apartment. Over the past year my reception has gotten very poor in the Old Town area where I live and. Rural areas where I frequently travel now have no service at all, but previously provided good service. I hate being contractually tied to a phone service that is no longer functioning as it was when I signed the contract.

I can't even sit in my living room and talk, I have to go sit on a chair near a window or go out in the back yard. I had better reception with my 3 year old Motorola phone in the house. Looks like the closet tower is at Coors and Rio Bravo area, 3 - 4 miles away.

We have had Verizon for 6 years and we have not ever had an Albuquerque reception problem. We have traveled to many different parts of rural New Mexico and have had good coverage. There were places that were dead spots, but you would expect them to be dead (middle of a canyon, next to mountain, etc.). I think the reception problems people have may sometimes be due to their cell phones rather than their location. From my readings about coverage, it seems Verizon is #1 hands down, then T-Mobile is #2, and AT&T is #3. Disclaimer: We have family that come and visit with their AT&T phones and T-Mobile phones, and they have not had a problem when being here.

Had Sprint for 4 years now, with 3 models of phone between my wife and I. It's continuing to deteriorate. My wife and I have the same model now and both continue to go to roaming randomly throughout Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. We used to live near Wyoming / Comanche and couldn't even pick up roaming at times. Never had a solid connection while inside. Text are beginning to get a lot of delay time. Get anywhere near a building at Intel and calls will drop as you enter roaming, provided you get a signal at all before you enter a building. Sprint is a sinking ship, abandon all hope. We'll be changing service's next month when our contract is up.

I recently moved to albuquerque and fond that my phone gets almot no reception. It actually shows full 5 bars for my signal reception but almost all calls are dropped during the first 2 seconds or while the line is still ringing. I'm switching to another carrier.

When I first bought a cell phone I chose Sprint. My initial interaction with Sprint was excellent. No dropped calls, no billing issues. The last two to three years with Sprint have been Hell. When I first started getting dropped calls in my living room I thought it must be the phone. So I changed phones but the calls continued to drop. My original Sprint phones had real antennas that you would pull up and out of the phones. The newer models all have their antennas built into the handset with no extension. These are the cell phones I have had this trouble with. Does anyone know if there is a difference in reception on the Westside using the two different phones? Sprint service does not have a clue.

Works at our house near Southern and Eubank. Works in office building downtown. Fails in Target on Eubank. Fails in Peralta.

Even after we updated the roaming software *228 we can only get two bars in our back yard.

Have lived at the same location and had Verizon for 6 years. Reception has been getting progressively worse over the years. Have to go outside my house to make a call without being disconnected constantly. My girlfriend has T-Mobile and reception is perfect.

I used Verizon for years with no problems then switched to Quest (Sprint) and now calls are dropped all the time and it enters "roaming" at random. I will switch back to Verizon.
