Phone reception is great. Data is terrible. Inside a high rise near the freeway. Works tolerably before 8am and drops off for the rest of the day. Take the train and data reception at Union Station varies wildly day-to-day.

Reception inside the County HOA Building (aka The Mausoleum) was never good with ATT, but is actually even worse with Verizon. Sorry I switched from ATT because I can't even reliably send texts from my phone much less perform the most basic functions requiring a connection. I am also paying more with Verizon so feel doubly screwed-over.

Sprint coverage is great all around downtown. Network Vision has been deployed in some areas. Expect to see 1.5-2.1Mbps on 3G with great coverage. LTE still needs upgrades. I'm getting 2.3Mbps on LTE.

Based on my experience with T-Mobile reception, precisely data reception, sucks within buildings.For example, the Internet might work for 5-10 minutes, then it might not come back for 5-1+hours. Reception is dissatisfactory. You have to be in the streets in order to acces the Internet. However, anywhere else T-Mobile is great. But if you plan to move to Downtown La or plan to work there(inside buildings), then I highly suggest getting a wifi network installed as your data reception is poor and it will work whenever it wants to.

up beachwood Sprint still works okay but in miracle mile area or echo park area it's just GONE. so frustrating, and i'm pretty sure it used to be fine there. why can't they get it together for cryin out loud

I've been living in Silver Lake for 1.5 years with an iPhone 4 and AT&T is the worst! OMG! So bad. I cannot talk at my house and get dropped calls all over the neighborhood. I am finally out of my contract and am switching to Verizon. I've had several people with Verizon come to my house and their reception is perfect. I cannot wait to ditch AT&T!

Sprint's coverage is spotty in this area (financial area of downtown LA). but most of the time i'll get by OK throughout the day. I have 4G WiMax and am probably will upgrade to 4G LTE by the end of the year. I sincerely hope the coverage will be better...

the Sprint reception is average in this neck of the woods (near Beachwood Canyon). 4G coverage can be spotty depends which side of the street you're on. streaming videos? again, it is spotty. my recommendation would be to get on the home wifi (if you have them)...
