On my Nokia, there are actually seven bars but 97% of the time, I had six bars. Every now and then it would drop to about four or five and a couple of days I even had all seven. Out of the nine days I was there, I only had three dropped calls, and I talked on my phone A LOT! No offense, but I have no idea what's wrong with these people's phones who got all dropped calls and only 1 bar.Was this review helpful to you?
After having sub par luck with both cingular / ATT and T-Mobile in our house (2 bars or less), then we switched over to Verizon. Now we get 4 bars in our house and can even make calls from Roscomere! Was this review helpful to you?
I've had Nextel (first the i1000, then the i90c, then the i730) for about six years now. The reception in my home is fantastic, as well as in the general area of Wilshire and La Brea. Nextel has fixed several trouble areas around the city (such as in the La Cienega pass), however there are a couple of spots on the 110 between Manchester and El Segundo Blvds, and on the 10 just as you enter off the 5 inbound that are problematic. Still overall, my perception of the quality has only improved over the years. Was this review helpful to you?
Phone displays 5 bars - but my calls drop CONSISTENTLY. Sometimes I won't get a call but my voicemail will ring. I got a replacement phone, same problem. My girlfriend's Cingular phone has the problem about 1 / 3 of the time mine does in the same location. Looking for a new carrier - Verizon was fantastic when I was living in NYC, Philadelphia and Ithaca, NY. In LA, it's amazing if I can drive 2 blocks without dropping a call. Was this review helpful to you?
I get pretty decent reception at home, close to where the 2 fwy becomes Glendale. I get no recepion by the silver lake resevour or on Rowena near the "coffee table" Most areas of Los Angeles I can get a decent reception. I like you, do you like me?Was this review helpful to you?
AT&T Wireless (TDMA)
I've been waiting 10 years for a cell site to be put up near my neighborhood so that I can at least use my cell phone at home once in a while. But it's never happened. It's been the same, even though LA Cellular turned into AT&T, then to Cingular. So no matter the company, changes have never been made to improve cell phone reception in my area. You have to think with all the money they make, and with technology getting better, cell companies would do something to improve cell phone reception throughout the area. Will it take another 10 years? Was this review helpful to you?
In the Glassell Park / Eagle Rock are where I live I get very spotty reception with Verizon, and almost none at my house! How can this be being right between downtown Glendale and downtown Los Angeles?!? And I get perfect reception while driving through farm country in the San Joaquin Valley? I don't get it.Was this review helpful to you?

Having ATT wireless / Cingular is a waste of time and money. I can't get reception anywhere in this area. I have travelled extensively and the reception is poor everywhere. Was this review helpful to you?
Sometimes my phone will show 1 bar, but at other times it will show 2, 3, or 4 bars. It is not consistent. Irregardless of the number of bars showing, reception service is extremely poor all over my house lot and nearby neighbors. Scratchy sound; dropped calls, etc. Sometimes, my phone will not ring at all, but will beep me later to notify me that voicemails have been left (hours ago). Occasionally, while my phone is idle, it will "beep" and a "No Signal" message will appear on the display. I habitually keep my phone switched off while at home - and I must get in my car and drive out of my area to a market parking lot in order to retrieve saved messages and to make and receive calls. In contrast, I've had friends serving in Iraq call me from their cell phones onto my hard-wired home phone... sounding clear as a bell. Was this review helpful to you?
I switched from AT&T to Sprint about two years ago and it revolutionized my cell phone use. AT&T was, compared to Sprint, a rookie company in the field of wireless technology. Sprint has figured it out because I have very few dropped calls, I never have breakup or static on any of my calls and I get reception almost EVERYWHERE! The only place I don't is in the silver lake hills but still, even there it's rare that I don't have at least 2 bars! Never had Verizon but heard they were running a close second. Was this review helpful to you?
