Verizon

Always have outstanding reception with Verizon at home and most places in LA. I almost never experience dropped calls or other reception or connectivity issues. This is also the case in the other Metro-areas I frequent (NY, SF, Detroit)

In my house, by the Bolsa Chica wetlands, there is only 1 bar showing... on a good day.

Usually one bar. If I take it in the bathroom with me goes completly out of reception.

I get alot of dropped called and failed reception errors in my room or anywhere in my area for that matter.

Used to have great reception with AT&T. Since Cingular took over, I have noticed a steady decline in reception. Calls drop very frequently now, and I never used to drop them berfore. I used to be able to make calls within my house; now I have no signal. Time to switch carriers. Cingular is pretty bad.

At home, Had AT&T TDMA, no problem. Switched to Cingular GSM and poor to no signal. Manually switched phone network to AT&T and bingo 5 bars again. Customer service said the cell antenna accross the street is "blue" (AT&T) on thier map. I hope when the fully integrate the new gsm system, the switch this antenna over too.

Cingular is working very well here. I've tried them all, and Verizon is probably the best, but Cingular is a close 2nd. It seems that Long Beach is a bit spotty in coverage with Sprint and ATT, although not unusable - sometimes one house over or across the street makes the difference.

This is the corner of the cemetary and every single time I take the phone out to make a call at that corner, it just goes no bar and drops calls if I am in conversation. The thing with Nextel is that, for the most part, the service is good, but as soon as you hit a dead spot, drops the call and gets five bars two seconds later. What the hell? It is still way better than AT&T and T-Mobile...

Luckily, the weather is almost always nice in Orange County, because I have to go outside to make and receive calls here. (It's a stark contrast to my other home in Santa Barbara, where the Sprint signal strength has been exceptional)
