I get poor reception along the coast near Bolsa Chica as well as many indoor areas in the neiborhoods between Goldenwest and Edwards and in between Heil and Mcfadden. Outdoor areas are also very weak in those areas.

If you are inside a building such as the Student Union on campus, chances of any reception are very slim. You need to be out in the open away from structures and not in between buildings either to get some reception. At peak times (around noon and 5pm), the network is busy even though you get reception. Either you would need to get away from campus or just wait till the peak time is over.
