AT&T

Reception in most of the South Bay is very good. Signal drops off along Artesia from Aviation to Hawthorne. May have been the phone though, I've had a SE W600 for a few days now and the signal seemed stronger on that same drive.

I get no reception with Nextel or Sprint at 2514 E Willow St. in Signal Hill, CA. I work from home and this is a real problem. If I go 2 blocks in any direction (except downhill on Cherry) I have perfect reception. There is a Sprint / Nextel store on the other side of Cherry and I get perfect reception there. The only carrier that seems to work with no dropped calls around here is Cingular. I've used them before and they are lousy, but it looks like I'll have to switch. With all this money being pumped in to Signal Hill why is there no cellular service in certain areas? I have 3 phones as I run a business out of my house and I just renewed my contract with Nextel before moving here. It will cost me $400 to get out of it. Does anyone know if there is a law stating that they have to actually provide service in order to hold me to the contract?

Drop calls to no signal. I have to go outside to make a phone call. AT&T had the best service before they merged with Cingular. Now I feel like one of Cingular's step children. Every time I talk to a Cingular rep about my recpetion problems, they immediately want to switch me to one of their contracts. I tell them "No Thanks". Don't switch to Cingular. They suck.

Don't get incoming calls most of the times. And even if the call comes in it's dropped usually.

Reception is intermittent and poor along Rosecrans coming East from the 110 Freeway. Halfway between Avalon Blvd.and Central Ave. along Rosecrans the signal is poor and not dependable. The is a large cell tower two block away just north of Rosecrans Ave. and Central Ave. but apparently Cingular doesn't use it.

Reception seems to change with in the same room with most companies and phones, so I'm not sure one can extrapolate this to represent a total experienes. However, GSM systems (Cingular / T-Mobile) tend not to have as good of reception as CDMA / TDMA (Sprint / Verizon) systems. Their 'tracking' seems more consistent. For calling / going overseas and for the ease of a SIM card which stores call info, I still prefer GSM service. There will always be sketchy spots.

Strong reception. I switched and left the horrible GSM services of Cingular / AT&T... I couldn't stand the numerous dropped calls and it annoys me that my friends who are still on the GSM network are always getting cut off when I'm talking to them from my Sprint service. Generally in South Bay area, I have no issues with Sprint's reception except in portions of Hermosa Beach.

during the day, 1 bar to no signal unless I go to the top floor of my townhome and stand next to my window. But for some strsnge reson, ggreat signal during the evening beginning at 6pm. I can't imagine the use dropping significantly enought to go from no service to full bars. I will switch back to Verizon (great signal).
