In our apartment we have to be by a window to get reception, or else we lose the signal. Otherwise reception in LB is pretty good, except for a little area on Livingston just before it hits 2nd where the signal is weak.

I get no reception with Nextel or Sprint at 2514 E Willow St. in Signal Hill, CA. I work from home and this is a real problem. If I go 2 blocks in any direction (except downhill on Cherry) I have perfect reception. There is a Sprint / Nextel store on the other side of Cherry and I get perfect reception there. The only carrier that seems to work with no dropped calls around here is Cingular. I've used them before and they are lousy, but it looks like I'll have to switch. With all this money being pumped in to Signal Hill why is there no cellular service in certain areas? I have 3 phones as I run a business out of my house and I just renewed my contract with Nextel before moving here. It will cost me $400 to get out of it. Does anyone know if there is a law stating that they have to actually provide service in order to hold me to the contract?

Never really had too much of a problem with Cingular. I have read alot of complaints here... *fingers crossed* I had Sprint and they were alright too... except there customer service was HORRIBLE. Unless they outsourced the call to India, where I had the most educated, well-spoken and genuinely attentive CSR's, who even went so far as to call me back the next day to MAKE SURE everything had gone thru okay. Let me repeat, they called me. So much for keeping it in the good ole USA. The thing to remember, is all cell phone service providers are evil. They are making uncalculatable amounts of profit and hanging you (their customer) out to dry on extortion-like lenghty contracts. The moral is find one that works for you. BTW - the quality and make of phone helps significantly. I get good service at home, on the road and with the help of unlocked phones, even when I travel out of the country. All I could want is a louder speaker phone option, coz when you're driving, or busy outside swinging an axe / hammer / golf club and logic dictates you can't do that with the phone pressed to your ear, you can't hear a thing. I wonder how that Motorola RAZR is?

Generally good outsude, but fairly weak and less stable inside home. May be because of two story homes all around. Would like some way to boost signal inside. Phone is 3 years old but still working. I had hoped new model might be better but reading reviews makes me think not.

Old AT&T TDMA service, worked well, until we went on vacation. We have two devices of the same model and manufacture date. Well, the situation is now that one teases you a bit letting you think you might get in a convo, the other just isn't that kinda girl and not a tease. The really fun part was while we were on vacation, all calls home, to the ATT, the ONLY phone service in the house, were met with all circuits busy or just no signal and straight to voice mail. Cingular states that they are "working" on the issue. Oh, and they would like to move us to the GSM service, it will be "definitely more reliable." Service is often good elsewhere in the area, but at home, no go. So, in conclusion, this service is like a cheating husband, great everywhere else, but lousy at home and worthy of a thrashing. Cheers

Awesome reception--- all over cerritos! weve tried them all (and weve paid to cancel them all too) and Verizon by far is the best--- 5 stars everywhere around the house + all over cerritos and most of the places we travel! how amazing! we even get reception (although it is a little questionable) in Yosemite! We've tried Nextel, at&T (digital), Cingular, t mobile, and sprint. Verizon is the best all the way!

Have to go outside to make calls. Always getting call failed if I am in house, we have 4 different model cell phones all with Cingular and they all get terrible reception and dropped calls

There's an old AT&T tower on the NE corner of this intersecrion, now a Cingular tower. I can see this tower from my home and I get near perfect reception inside and outside the house. Overall I'm happy with Cingular in the Long Beach area, but I wish I had a different phone. All my problems can be attributed to the phone.

Constantly dropped calls and or poor reception, Almost no reception in my house. Sprint commercials always patting themselves on the back at how they are the biggest and best in the nation (YEAH RIGHT). Bottom line is if you get the freebee phone it's usually garbage and lasts approximately 6 months before it dies from major electronic complications. This is when you will be given an even crappier refurbished phone along with the attitude from the sales minion of "you should be grateful" for even getting another phone from Sprint. You would think for as much as you pay monthly they would give you a better deal on a better phone. These phones cost them next to nothing because of bulk purchasing. Even if you wanted to buy a better phone there is no customer loyalty plan or discount no matter how many years you have been with them. Unless you are a new customer (Sucker Ploy aka: Bait) I quess the commercial stands true where all the kids are in a kindergaten type setting coloring with old crayons and the new kid Johnny walks in and is presented with new crayons because he is new as stated by the teacher!

Forget about using the V400 / Cingular indoors. This phone and Cingulars lack of coverage sucks. I had Sprint and a Samsung for 4 years and never had a problem. We have 4 phones, the V400's are a piece of junk always something wrong with them. It doesn't matter where I go. Calls always fail.
