Sprint

I've been happy with Sprint until recently when they merged with Nextel. Signal is fine. Phone is good. Prices okay. But I do not like the web-site and customer service changes since the merger. A new billing system is being phased in. Can you believe that in this age of identity theft, they are asking for pass words and pin numbers over the phone before they will help you? The old system they would ask for last four of Social Security number. I'm very disappointed. Since my contract expires in 7 days, I am checking out Verizon after reading the mostly good comments about them here as opposed to the lousy comments for the other carriers.

We moved into our apartment in March 2006. Our T Mobile reception was great for the first year and then it suddenly turned to crap in March 2007. Both of us had Motorola phones (I believe they were the V180) and began experiencing dropped calls on EVERY call. Incoming calls often went straight to voicemail. Numerous calls to TMobile resulted in them convincing us to upgrade our phones from the free Motorolas. So we did. Stupidly. After reading various reviews, we both bought the Nokia 6133, which meant our contracts were renewed for another 2 hellish years. New phones did nothing to improve our reception. More calls to TMobile resulted in a promise of 'network enhancement' in our area that would take up to 120 days. It's been more than 120 days and our reception is virtually nonexistent. We actually broke down and had Charter Comm install a land line last week so we can communicate with the outside world. I deeply regret leaving Cingular. I will most like pony up the $200 to get out of my TMobile contract and go back to them if my reception doesn't improve in the immediate future. Honestly, I didn't know what a dropped call was until I became a TMobile customer. I hate, loathe and despise TMobile. I would happily join a class action lawsuit if anyone cares to file one.

I get little to no coverage indoors at my home. When I go outside, it still takes several minutes to get a signal. I often have to reboot. This is in spite of having a RAZR V3 that's never been dropped or otherwise mishandled. I'd switch to Verizon but I'm stuck in a contract. Bummer.

T-Mobile works great here. Occasional weak signal during rush hours, but otherwise service has improved in the past year.

I have a business phone Cingular Treo which I only get about one bar and only can make calls sometime in the upstairs bedroom, My Verizon Razor have 5 bars and I can make calls from the basement. I have used all the cell phone carriers in the LA area and travel the highways daily. I can clearly state the Verizon has the best service of any cellular company in Los Angeles. Sprint has good coverage as well since Sprint and Verizon are on the same network and share cell site. The only thing with Sprint is their customer service is not very good and forget about getting them to do something as simple as change rate plans without mayor issues. Verizon voice, data and customer service is the best.

Receprion at home is terrible. Have to go to the back of the house to get signal. Dropped Sprint to get Verizon and neither one is any good. Guess I'll have to stick with the land line!

Lousy reception, in Long Beach (home), Santa Monica (work), and everywhere in between. I feel like I got hosed. I jumped from T-Moble because I didn't like their handsets. Now I love my handset but most of my phone calls either break off or are so full of static that I give up and use a land-line.

Poor reception at best. Virtually worthless indoors. We make all calls at home from the front porch, and we pray not to be dropped while we are making the call. Verizon's "your problem is our problem" tagline is pure BS because they have done nothing to improve reception. I am only 1.5 miles from the Verizon store where the phones purchased, but the signal sucks big time. Reception is slightly (but only slightly) better with a Motorola e815 phone, but it still sucks like a shop vac. 0-1 bars at best indoors, 1-2 bars Max. outdoors.

Often lose calls when inside house (1 bar maximum when there is reception). Subpar reception (1 to 2 bars) outside with "cell phone garbel" during discussions. Generally good reception and quality elsewhere.
