Verizon

2-3 reception bars. Frequent dropped calls, sometimes up to 3 times in a single phone call. I have been with Verizon since 2001 and never had a dropped call, NEVER. I never have a dropped call in my other residence in Palm Springs, NEVER. Only here in this condo. Doesn't help if I go out on the terrace either. Verizon needs another tower. I have heard many people complain about the service in this area. Be careful who you sign up with.

Receptions is surprisingly good. Transmission via voice, web, and text are all quite good. 3-bars, 3-G, older model phone add up to reliable calls, web access and flawless texting.

Poor transmission with frequent interruptions. It's frustrating making calls because of loss of contact.

Phone jumps into roaming at times. 3g constantly drops in and out. had FULL reception for both data and voice not 1 month ago. Now, it is terrible, at best.

I was a prior T-Mobile customer here in Long Beach and never got the 3G / 4G coverage that I was promised, so I decided to switch to Verizon since all my research indicated Verizon wireless had the best DATA NETWORK in the US. None of the carriers seem to have any huge issues with dropped calls in the Long Beach area, so that wasn't my concern. I only wanted a true 4G experience from a high end smartphone and I thought switching to Verizon was going to be worth the sacrifice, NOT. I am a first time Verizon customer (Droid RAZR) and from the start, the 4G coverage is spotty in every area of Long Beach. If I go to other Metropolitan areas (Washington, DC etc) it appears the data connectivity is superb but in Long Beach it is horrible. Verizon claims this issue will be resolved with the ICE CREAM SANDWICH 4.0.4 UPDATE which still has not happened... .still waiting. This is just my opinion, but I strongly believe that the city of Long Beach is considered a "ghetto" area, subsequently the cell phone companies don't want to upgrade our towers and spend money in the community. A few extra towers and some extra data capacity would go a long way to making Verizon the best cell phone company in California and make me a life long customer.

At&t... Absolutely ridiculous, absolutely crap. I've been living in my neighborhood for 2 years now. The cell reception was fairly weak then, usually 2-3 bars, and very rarely 4 bars. It has actually gotten WORSE. Now I have 1-2 bars, and many times absolutely NO RECEPTION AT ALL. and forget about data usage, unless you're using your WiFi. I find it absolutely disgusiting that if I am expecting an important call, I have to go outside, across the street and wait for it - sometimes that doesn't even work. At&t maybe fine if you are giving your kid a phone - but it is.absolutely worthless as a business tool. Unless you plan on conducting all of your phone calls while in your car on the freeway... No problems with reception there...

This is awful. I just got back from Europe where the cell phone reception is awesome, even in the boondocks. In the middle of an urban area, my major carrier lost me. How is this possible? I can't navigate using Google Maps or MapQuest anymore because I'm sick of losing my data service. Does anyone know of a good navigation solution that uses maps that you download to your phone, that don't depend on sketchy cell reception?!
