Sprint

The service was fine until last week. Now it is abysmal. My phone and my wife's are useless in the house.

When I got my Galaxy SIII a few weeks ago, my mobile data worked perfectly (4GLTE and 3G). For the past few days, I have had NO mobile data at all! However, if I drive towards Sepulveda on Vanowen, 4G magically reappears! What is going on??!

AT&T Service despite promises of tower upgrades has completely failed. First they blamed the towers, then the 210 freeway traffic, then the school kids from the high school nearby. Ultimately I am going to have to switch as they could care less about the area.

4G LTE near Winnetka, move down towards DeSoto and you lose the covrage and moves into 3g. Go past Cangoa Ave and you get LTE. You need to be in specific areas to get LTE.

This is my (temporary) 3rd phone while I decide to drop Sprint (Virgin Mobile using a Kyocera Rise) or not, and it is tempting me to switch to AT&T. My wife has T-Mobile, also reported below, similarly good up here. You can get an idea of the different carriers by reading my reviews today. Despite this ATT phone being a $10 cheap, flimsy phone, it has the clearest, strongest signal and distorts the least during calls -- no matter whether it shows any bars or not, indoors or outdoors, whatever. AT&T service is amazing, and I am a fool for ever having trusted Sprint's marketing ploys. Last week, upon reporting signal reception problems, Sprint told me "We're upgrading our towers" and "paying customers are given reception priority over pre-paid customers by the signal routing computers in the towers". Then they tried to sell us a very expensive family plan. I don't think so. I dearly love my Virgin Mobile smartphone but it looks like it may be going on eBay. Necessities first.

Sprint / Virgin reception is tricky in our home. This is my phone; my wife has T-Mobile (I just reported her results earlier). I have found a spot in the hallway / bathroom where I get great reception so I leave the phone there and use Bluetooth. Calls will drop or be denied if we set the Android phone down on the dinner table or office desk. It's probably something in our house or yard that interferes but other people should be warned that these Sprint phones need to be in special spots to get good reception, unlike my T-Mobile and my new AT&T $10 cheapie which may replace Sprint despite my love of Android. If you can't get the important calls, to Heck with the fancy features.

2-3 bars at any time. Calls always go through. They can stutter or distort either inside or outside the home, but we almost never lose a call. Using a cheap Samsung flip phone.
