AT&T

I lived less than a mile away, in Burbank, had no reception problems. Now, I have NO service in my apartment! Sometimes I look at my phone and see I have a voicemail from a call that went straight to VM; it won't even ring here! Sending a text takes, sometimes, three attempts to get it to go. Other bad spots, in which I warn the person on the other end that I will lose them, are going west on the 134 near Glendale Ave / Harvey, and going east and west on the 134 around Eagle Rock, Figueroa Ave. Seriously considering switching to Sprint, but am afraid of signing up for 2 years and getting the same service!

Just thought I would update SCV since it has been a long while since anyone posted re: T-Mobile. Overall coverage is very good is SCV with HSDPA showing in all of the places of business around SCV. I have been with my GF in Macy's or Lowes and she was unable to connect to ATT for web browsing while I get a fairly fast and strong connection using T-Mobile and the MyTouch 4G. Overall very satisfied with the quality of service in SCV.

I was told this area is a "dead" zone for AT&T service. They replaced my Cingular upgrade several years ago with this model Samsung - supposidly a stronger reciever. There was no change in service. I rarely get more than 1 bar, which quickly goes to 0 bars. Calls are dropped regularly. Last week I was told to replace my simm card - I still had a Cingular card. This did not change anything. I was also told that AT&T is dropping 2G coverage - phasing it out gradually. I am on monthly service now, looking for better coverage. I believe that getting a new AT&T phone will not change the coverage. The proposed tower on Plummer between Winnetka and Oso never was approved. The neighboring tract residents across the street probably disapproved of the site. I am within 500 feet of that site. The West Valley needs better service soon.

i have to try 2 or 3 times to make a phone call from my own house. I have no reception at all at work! its great if I am outside and driving in the car. but who wants to go for a drive when you want to make a phone call? simply put, I would be better off with a walkie talkie!

Sprint is the only service provider that we know of that gets service at my house. We had Verizon for a couple of years and did not get service. My father has AT and T and he cannot get service when he's at my house.

I rarely had more than one or two bars from DeSoto and Vanowen to Canoga and Vanowen. I've spoken with Verizon multiple times, and they just say, "there are plenty of towers around, you should not be having any issues" or "We don't guarantee service inside a building", basically saying they don't care. I can't wait until my contract is up.

I'm glad I switched from AT&T to Sprint. I would get 2 bars or 0. I had trouble with dropped calls and text messages. Some calls would not be clear at all. Searching the web or emails is slow. I was better off using land line. My sister has Iphone which was a better cell then mine. She has the same problems. Switched to Sprint I haven't had any dropped calls or text messages. No problem with searching the web or looking at my emails. I can know talk on my cell without telling the person to repeat what they just said. I had Verizon before I had AT&T it was just as bad. GO SPRINT if your in my area.

With 3G turned off signal quality significantly increases.

We lived in Burbank for a while and had great Verizon coverage. The moved to Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks area and Verizon was bad. They let us out of our contract early. So we got iPhones and AT&T. From dec 09 to may10 we had stellar service. Rarely a failed call. Tons of bars most of the time. Sometime in May, coincidentally when Apple announced the new iPhone, we started getting failed calls and very poor service especially indoors. We even tried that AT&T m cell tower but are returning it due to it shutting down our server off and on all day. And so we started quizzing anyone we knew who used the iPhone and every person we talked to said starting just before the summer they had mostly crappy service especially in their houses. From Pasadena to woodland Hills and in between. Anyone way to start a class action suit?

I have the iPhone 4G and have had all the other iPhones and some Sony phones. I have never gotten good reception on any of them in Studio City, where I live. Likewise, service is equally poor in all of Burbank, CA. At home, I now use Skype. It works but it really isn't right that AT&T service is so bad especially in an area with such a large population density.
