Verizon

I travel a lot on State Route 94 from Rancho San Diego to Campo, California. There are a few dead spots along the trip, but Verizon gets better reception then my AT&T or Sprint phones.

Sometimes I get 4 bars, sometimes 3 bars, but very often I get no service at all.

Years ago while living in Mission Valley my carrier was AT&T. I switched to Cingular after no longer wanting to deal with the dropped calls and horrible reception and the difference was amazing--night and day! When I moved to University Heights Cingular service was still outstanding. THEN AT&T bought up Cingular and somehow within a few months time service went down the toilet. Recently I moved to Fashion Hills area and as with Mission Valley AT&T service is practically non-existent. Love the Cingular roll-over minutes legacy, but will have to find an alternative.

I first started out with T-Mobile with their 2 year contract back in my frosh to jr. year and that was bad service, it was always roaming. Since then I've had Verizon since the then Motorola Razr craze, I now have the Lg EnV phone which the contract is up soon for it. My complaint about the service is that I always get dropped calls at my house and I think it has to do with the Sprint PSC tower right outside my house but everywhere else I have service. Couple years ago when my family and I went to Big Sur (CA), I was with T-Mobile and there was absolutely no service, my aunt had Sprint and the same deal, my mom was the only one at that time with Verizon Wireless and she was the ONLY ONE WITH SERVICE. My biggest debate is whether to get iPhone 3GS (At&t) or Blackberry Tour (VZW). All these reviews seem to dislike AT&T so I'll probably get the Tour. Phones and plans are getting expensive these days... .

AT&T is horrible in this area. Never buy iphone in San Diego especially in La Jolla area.

After several (20+) conversations and complaints to AT&T, I'm going to have switch providers. The coverage fluctuates from 4 bars to no bars at any given time of day. Dropped calls are the rule not the exception. Was thinking about a cell signal booster but there are no promises made by manufacturers for success. AT&T's final word was they don't promise coverage in all areas. I'll miss my iphone!

I live in clairemont behind the square and for the last 3 months I have been getting horrible reception, dropped called left and right, and takes me about 2-3 times to send a text.

Reception comes and goes, even in the same room of the house.

No reception inside buildings most of the time. Have to wander around outside until catching a signal and call quality is poor when I finally get through.

The ONLY way to make AT&T work in San Diego is to hack your phone and force it to use Enhanced Full Rate. Otherwise, you get crappy, distorted calls that sound as if they're coming from Mars. AT&T has always been horrible and everything the company touches turns to junk. Blame it on the CEO and board of directors who get paid a lot to run a cheapskate outfit where the customers are screwed.
