Have Cingular TDMA service (formerly ATT), and I can use it in only one room in my house, if I keep perfectly still. I have my cell phone chair. I had switched to the more modern GSM service with a Sanyo phone and I got zero service at my house, and lousy service throughout Southern Calif. With GSM, I could not use it in a moving car, as the signal would drop consistently while driving. So I switched back to the much more reliable TDMA service. Other than my house, it actually gets excellent reception around San Diego, LA, Colorado and wherever I travel around the US. I'll stick with it until I'm convinced GSM service has improved.

I get good reception all over Coronado but get unacceptable signal between 8th St. and 7th St. along Pomona Ave.

I get good reception every other day! (I'm not joking.) On bad days, calls are occasionally dropped or voices are chopped up. We live half way up Grossmont hill. To be fair, the T-Mobile coverage map showed weaker signal on the hill than in the valleys, near the 8 and 125 freeways. Everywhere else I get good reception, though haven't tried the phone much higher up on our hill. Some rooms of our house are much worse than others. The street is always better. Lots of long walks on the bad days. Prior to T-Mobile, I used a Motorola cell phone with a pre-paid Net10 service, and reception at my home was far more reliable. My family plan is a real gift for folks with kids strewn across the country. We talk for 45 minutes or more at a time, with no per-minute charge.

Reception goes from average to nonexistent on a regular basis. Many dropped calls. Verizon not universally bad, just bad in Miramar / Mira Mesa area.

what in the heck is going on? I just bought a new phone from the Sprint store on Fenton way. This phone drops calls like I cannot believe. This costs me time and money, I use my phone in my career. This is not acceptable. However, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, I reupped for 2 years. If anyone has a solution please let me know. thank you in advance. Sprint step up cmw

AT&T

I lose reception often! And the image on my phone comes up as a mirror image, or not at all sometimes. We can't wait to go to a carrier other than Cingular. It has not been good, nor has it been a very good deal financially.

Nextel

I've had Nextel for almost 4 years and I've seen their signal get worse and worse in that time. The last year has been very frustrating. I have three different phones (I830, I90c, I530) and they all drop call's 25% of the calls no matter where I am in San Diego. I'M DONE! Tomorrow I switch to Verizon.

I would never recommend Cingular. Not only do you frequently experience dropped calls and dead air space in my neighborhood but also anywhere in the Mission Valley area between 5 and 15 I continually experience the same thing. They offer no other support other than to tell you to switch out your SIM card or warranty your phone, neither of which works... Oh yes, they recommend you find someone to buy out your contract. Anyone willing???

The coolest phone ever. Has button on side to open the phone. I was so bummed out that I had to return this phone. I could not make calls from home. Downtown reception is excelent, but no reception in Encanto which is home. Had to switch to Verizon. Good luck to me.

Verizon was much better. No cell company works well in this area but T-moblie is the worst. Customer service is very nice, always gives me free minutes for dropped calls. I can't use the minutes as I get such poor reception!
