AT&T Wireless (TDMA)

AT&T reception throughout La Jolla and on and around Mt. Soledad is abominable. Either the connection does not go through at all or disconnects in less than 30 seconds. If you live in La Jolla I do not recommend purchasing AT&T service. When I called to discuss it, the customer service people repeatedly deny that there is any problem at all. THey claim I am the first to call on this. However, my friends no longer carry AT&T for this very reason. And I will be changing soon, as well,

Up until 2 weeks ago, my reception had been quite good inside the apartment for 2 years. Now, I cannot even make or receive calls at all inside. My street is very spotty, too, suddenly. My coworkers' Sprint PCS phones work great for them, especially inside the hotel where we work, and in the service elevators.

Dropped calls everyday, very spotty service, magically goes from 3 bars of reception to none all the time. Even when the phone indicate good reception, the phone does not complete calls. Sometimes it takes 7 or 8 calls to the same person just to have a short conversation. Overall very flaky and bad service.

Dead Zone in house, confirmed by Verizon. Occassional Poor reception, but not long enough to complete calls. Verizon should fix this!

T-mobile has had excellent coverage in my experience. I have had good coverage in San DIego and Los Andeles as well as during travels in New York, Baltimore, and Miami.

Verizon has great reception all over San Diego. Only complaint is that they sell older style phones with less features than other providers.

ATT (GSM) signal is consistently 1-3 bars lower than CINGULAR's around town, and it's always bouncing around indoors (jumps from 2 to 3 to 1 to 3, and I'm standing still) which has lead to dropped calls and lost GPRS connections while indoors - Tested with a Nokia 3590 and a 3595. There isn't a diff between the phones (switching SIMs had same results network-wise). ATT's (GSM) network is just not up to par with CINGULAR's.

I couldn't get very good reception on the first floor of my apartment complex.

I could generally get reception if I was outside. I couldn't get any reception from my first floor apartment in Warren though. I had to go outside to make calls.
