AT&T Wireless (GSM)
ATT (GSM) signal is consistently 1-3 bars lower than CINGULAR's around town, and it's always bouncing around indoors (jumps from 2 to 3 to 1 to 3, and I'm standing still) which has lead to dropped calls and lost GPRS connections while indoors - Tested with a Nokia 3590 and a 3595. There isn't a diff between the phones (switching SIMs had same results network-wise). ATT's (GSM) network is just not up to par with CINGULAR's.

I couldn't get very good reception on the first floor of my apartment complex.

I could generally get reception if I was outside. I couldn't get any reception from my first floor apartment in Warren though. I had to go outside to make calls.

using an unlocked phone i recommend taking cingular or t-mobile over at&t if you are looking for a gsm service. unless you have a phone with great reception you will find spotty coverage in la jolla. cingular performed much better.

It's an area that gets poor reception and Verizon seems to be the best here. I had AT&T and got poor to no coverage in Ocean Beach.
