Verizon
Extremely weak signal for the price Verizon charges.

Have had TMo for about 2 years now. Always have good service - way better than the AT&T service I have for my work phone and iPad. Awesome customer service as well. I've recommended TMo to several friends / colleagues who have AT&T or Sprint and all have told me what an improvement TMo has been. Also, TMo works best on Bart underground.

AT&T consistently disappoints. Reception rarely goes above 3 bars no matter where I am in SF or Bay Area. It is frequently at one or two bars and web sites take forever to load. It is even worse when I leave California. Prices for service are high. International plans are a joke: they cost a fortune and work only about 60 - 70% of the time.

Sprint was much better a year ago. Now lucky to get 1 bar. Try to send texts is very iffy. Works much better in SF.not so good in San Bruno. My neighbors say the same thing about their service. Maybe San Bruno just has bad reception.

I moved to SF from NYC in June on Verizon and watched in absolute horror my cell phone reception declined to levels on par with 2005 when I owned a flip phone. No 3G or 4G data especially during peak times e.g. nights, evenings, weekends, etc. 75% of calls would go directly to voicemail without me ever knowing I had a call or voicemail in the heart of downtown SF. The only positive was when I actually made a call or received a call, it was crystal clear. After six weeks of horrible customer service and excuses, I decided to port my number (after 12 years) to Sprint. Sprint rolled out the red carpet for me. Unlimited everything (talk, text, 4G data) at a lower price ($40 cheaper) and my data is stronger and faster. One down side is the call quality inside my high-rise office building is not always crystal clear but I rarely talk on the phone anyway. Outside of SF, calls and data coverage are just fine if not better than Verizon especially within the Sprint Spark coverage areas. If you are tired of Verizon's lies and deception: LEAVE. They do not care about long-time customers.

What was once a bearable service has turned into an unbearable service. What happen to Vetizon's network?

A year ago I had blazing fast LTE from Verizon in San Francisco. Now the service struggles to load anything quickly over data. It chokes on websites, email, Google Maps, you name it. As other reviews mention, I also seem to miss calls and voicemails, but receive no notices from my phone. Some time over the last 12 months Verizon service in SF dropped off a cliff.

Excellent reception : however, the customer service and the company ethos are absolutely the WORST. Switching just because of that. Completely inconsistent. Deceptive. Poorly trained. Evil ethics. However, I have encountered employees (1 out of 4) who are stellar. B

I've been a Verizon wireless customer in San Francisco for 9 years and was always pleased until recently. LTE coverage has gotten much worse in the last 1-2 years, very sluggish to respond and low bars in places (like my livingroom) where it was previously good. Bars come and go in the same location. Unreliable. Call quality is still good but not as clear as it used to be.

Prepaid T-Mobile phone purchased tonight, trying to find coverage at my home on Sneath Lane. The backside of Sneath has no coverage for T-Mobile. No bars. Have to walk down Sneath 1 / 3 of a mile to get coverage. We are facing Sweeny Ridge and a lot of carriers don't work well up here. Planning to return the prepaid phone (if possible).
