Cingular is awful and sucks big time!. Can't wait for my contract to expire. Who cares about rollover minutes when you can't even use your phone. I work at second and folsom. When I am at the lounge / cafeteria there is not a single bar on the phone. The other carriers which my co workers have are having a "grand" conversation chatting away. I can't even get any connection. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from Cingular.. By the way I live in San Mateo and it doesn't get any better either... I can't even receive an incoming call in my own residence. Now that is pathetic! Stay away from Cingular! Was this review helpful to you?
Extremely unreliable coverage. Frequent call drops. When call doesn't drop, reception is so spotty that you can't hear anything anyway. In addition, my phone often switches to analog when I am at home which drains the battery. Was this review helpful to you?

TDMA service is failing fast. Usd to have good reception here and area, now spotty. Also becoming a problem in mid-town Palo Alto. Was this review helpful to you?
Very poor reception. Seems to have gotten worse over last few months. Was this review helpful to you?
People tend to report the places where they can't get reception. This may be useful, but if you are looking for a system that does work the information is not complete. There are antennas not listed on the map near the intersection of Ralston and Alameda for Cingular, Sprint and T-Mobile. I have Cingular and am close to the antennas. Surprise! Reception is great. Metro PCS has one just a couple of blocks West on Ralston; can't speak for service from it, but considering Metro PCS's reputation I suspect that reception is unusually good here! Verizon might (untested) be a bit worse here; no local antenna located in this area. Cingular generally works pretty well in the area after the acqusition of ATT; former ATT GSM phones work better, too.Was this review helpful to you?
There is no T Mobile signal once you get one block off of El Camino. Occaisionally, the phone will see the ATT signal, but not always and the ATT signal does not have GPRSWas this review helpful to you?
Lose signal completely from Crestview to just before Alameda. Need to wrap up call and wait for 2 bars - 1 bar means nothing to CingularWas this review helpful to you?
Verizon's reception on campus has always been iffy, but up until about six months ago, you could make and receive calls with much higher probability. I often got a signal that indicated "extended network" which means they had an agreement with other carriers. They must have dropped those agreements, since I now have zero reception in Building 120 (McClatchy Hall). When I inquire about this, however, no one at Verizon will admit anything. Was this review helpful to you?
Weak signal. OK outside or directly next to windows facing toward 101.Was this review helpful to you?
