Lose signal completely from Crestview to just before Alameda. Need to wrap up call and wait for 2 bars - 1 bar means nothing to CingularWas this review helpful to you?
Verizon's reception on campus has always been iffy, but up until about six months ago, you could make and receive calls with much higher probability. I often got a signal that indicated "extended network" which means they had an agreement with other carriers. They must have dropped those agreements, since I now have zero reception in Building 120 (McClatchy Hall). When I inquire about this, however, no one at Verizon will admit anything. Was this review helpful to you?
Weak signal. OK outside or directly next to windows facing toward 101.Was this review helpful to you?
Get good reception (3-5 bars) everywhere except for the basement of Gates and, mysteriously, the dining hall in FloMo. Have had ~1 call drop in 1.5 years. Reception seemed better before merger of AT&T with Cingular (I originally signed up with AT&T), but it's still pretty good. Was this review helpful to you?
I forgot to add that the Customer service said that if there were a lot of people calling in to request service in the 94404 zipcode or any other zipcode that would speed up the tower building process. Was this review helpful to you?

I had Cingular TDMA before, but my husband lost his phone and can not get replacement TDMA phones at the Cingular store, so we switched to Cingular GSM. We now have the Nokia 6102 and the Motorola flip phone V551. I dont know how much our problem has to do with the phone, but I am quite possitive that the problem rest a large part on the GSM service. Our calls are dropped on a regular basis now, compared to almost perfect reception with the TDMA system. Previously, I have not miss any calls for 2 years (AT&T, before and after bought out by cingular). I work in Redwood City and lost more call there than I am at home, again, no problem before. My husband has the Nokia 6102,and he also has lost calls. After reading the post, it sound like the service I currently have is just average, not below average, for the area, though less than acceptable. Was this review helpful to you?
