Verizon

Used to be no reception at all. Last year or so, I get many calls, though they are frequently dropped. Seems that walking out to the driveway improves odds of completing a short call, but still pretty dicey

Almost always have 5 bars. In foggy weather, sometimes reception does go down to 1-2 bars but I've generally been happy with the quality of reception of infrequency of dropped calls.

Reception is really dicey up here. Absolutely no consistency. Usually the best I can get is poor, garbled reception. A lot of dropped calls.

Poor at best. Drops lots of calls, often gives message "Out of Service Area". Keep it for use away from home where generally it works fine.

Verizon's coverage is fine. I will probably drop my hard wire line. Cingular was pretty good, but I am happier with Verizon reception. Their prices are also the highest.

In my apartment and around most of town, I get excellent reception. But a block away from home, on Shoreline, it's essentially useless all the way around to Otis and 8th. It's also occasionally and randomly roaming (on Lincoln in spots, in the Safeway in South Shore).

Sprint is unusable in the Montclair hills area. The only thing that gets through, sometimes, is text messages.

I used to live two blocks away and had very spotty reception. In my apartment now I have excellent reception and no dropped calls.

I used to have Sprint and had fantastic reception inside my place (usually I was the only person). I switched to AT&T so I could use the free mobile to mobile calls. In order to make a call since the switch I have to stand on my porch or go outside. Every once in a while I am able to get reception but any breath might lose the connection. It's so bad I use my landline more than my cell if I'm at home. I hate having this service.

I'm not sure if it's just T-Mobile is bad in SF or what, but I get horrible or no signal at all in my office.. I have to use my land line for everything.. it's terribly frustrating. Seems like SF in general might be very bad with cell reception.. for a large city like this I would think the wirless carriers would strengthen and increase coverage... but it would not appear to be the case.
