Verizon

On one side of my house (towards Rheem) I get great reception, but if I go into my room (towards Zander) I get next to nothing.

Great reception here. Have had good service with Verizon, except some hotspots like Orinda or on campus at UC Santa Cruz.

Good reception outside of my house on deck. On the street calls are mostly lost, phone doesn't ring 90% of the time. I've tried Cingular, Verizon, and AT&T, none work very well.

I have a Nokia hand phone bought in Asia, so the GSM band is 900 / 1800 / 1900. With AT&T and Cingular sharing the same network now, I get reception almost everywhere. Very few dropped calls. It must be because of the upcoming merger. We will see if it stays that way.

Driving to Oakland Coliseum from 580 on Edwards Ave., and lost all reception until Edwards & McArthur Blvd.

AT&T is the worst coverage you've ever seen. And, confirming the other people who have posted here, the wireless radio in my my palm phone constantly turns itself off as the network struggles to connect. I would not recommend AT&T to anyone. If you must have GSM, I think T-Mobile is the least bad option for the Bay Area.

Doesn't work in the elevator or the tunnels. Otherwise it's great. Strong signals in Berkeley and Albany.

Horrible reception at home and in the area. Reception varies from no bars to two bars. It sometimes have to hold phone near window or hold it up in air. Calls frequently dropped. I would not recommend them.

I've had this service for a few years. Seems to be improving just a mite. The basic deal is I can get 2 bars by standing by the window... annoying. Outside the reception is 4-5 bars, so I'm one of those people who sit in their car and talk on the phone.

AT&T TDMA is okay in Berkeley, rarely more than three bars. But it's okay, reception in widespread even though call quality is below average - reception is better than most carriers (only Nextel and Verizon are better, though they are MUCH better) in this area. AT&T GSM is not even worth considering, like Cingular or Sprint, just useless from what I've experienced. I'll soon switch to Verizon because it has better reception and call quality for the same cost as AT&T TDMA (plus much better phones are available for no cost, I'll be getting the Samsung A530 (or A670 with a camera).
