Sprint

I've had Sprint for 16 years. Reception has been excellent until the last 6 months or so. Now, service is horrible. I keep getting dropped calls and call failures and calls that won't even connect. I've called Sprint on this 5 times in the last 3 months. It's like everyone has said, they're working on upgrading the towers. It's frustrating. The tower I use is only 2 blocks away at Fell and Laguna. They, why is service so bad?

Coverage is generally awful in the Montclair hills. My first carrier was T-Mobile when I moved here and I would get one bar. I could only reliably make calls if I went out to the street. I switched to Boost mobile, which runs on Sprints network. No coverage at all. Beware that even though they're a no-contract carrier, they will not refund the first month. When in doubt, get the absolute cheapest plan, or a pay-as-you-go plan, to test coverage so you don't get burned if you need to cancel like I did. I asked the upstairs neighbors what they use and based on that switched to ATT. The coverage and wife are acceptable but the BIG downside is ATT costs nearly double what other carriers charge. 300 MB / 300 Minutes / 300 texts is $88!

Verizon service in downtown Berkeley is terrible. I'm often in Civic Center Park for lunch, and my 3G iPhone on Verizon usually only gets 2-3 bars, and sometimes, like today. it goes to 1x (analog? seriously?) WTF is wrong with coverage form ALL the carriers in Berkeley? Totally ridiculous!

Poorest reception in this area results in continually dropped calls, inability to initiate a call. Constant roaming results in drained charge within three (3) hours; requires phone to be connected to charger while at work.

ok for texting most of the time but phone calls will be lost in most cases.

I have found Sprint to be the most reliable but not the fastest network. I have had both ATT and Verizon and have to be at the front of the building to make a call but Sprint works no problem throughout with 3 bars. Sprint Lacks good LTE coverage everywhere.

I dma Google maps e from SFO to Ukiah and had very little reception the whole time. My Google maps had a lot of trouble. I could not send texts or make calls at all for much of the way.

The coverage in San Francisco is great with a few exceptions. Inside buildings with thick or concrete walls, reception greatly diminishes. The city is mostly covered with LTE and you do fall back on 4G HSPA+ which is still speedy fast.

Sprint has the worst coverage, and the worst customer service to deal with the fact that their network is sub-par. Sold as a competitor to other networks, I was deceived and wound up in a two year contract of poor service. I would not recommend Sprint to anyone.
