College Ave seems to be the achilles heel of Verizon on southside. Thing is I'm stuck with Verizon, so God willing the phone I buy later today gets a bit better reception...Was this review helpful to you?
Good reception here. I'm assuming the tower at the Alameda Fire Department HQ is responsible for this. It is owned by Crown Castle International, but I belive it provides service to mostly Verizon customers. Verizon's Broadband Service works great here. Never has dropped internet service. Was this review helpful to you?

I have always have Good to Great reception just about eveyware in the Bay Area. I was'nt even aware bad reception or droped calls were a problem until I started looking into getting a new phone. The only time I have issues is when the cell phone battery gets really low. Other than that it has benn very reliable. I only wish the calling plans were as competative as some Cingular or verizine. Good: Reception, reliability, and sound quality. Bad: Cost, Freebee ring tones and wall paper. So if you want all the bells and wistles for free or a dirt cheap calling plan Nextel / Sprint is not a good choice. If you just need a phone to make phone calls than it won't let you down (as long as you remember to keep your battery charged). Was this review helpful to you?
I usually get six bars reception and an ocasional static or break. I receive and send all my calls except at Tanforan Sears basement and Target Daly CityWas this review helpful to you?
Going west on Pine, I lose reception around Gough until Steiner. It's been happening for years with different phones and different companies. Was this review helpful to you?
I get pretty much no reception downstairs. Upstairs is better, but the sound is still choppy, and if the conversation lasts more than 3 minutes it has close to a 50% chance of being dropped. Was this review helpful to you?
Not very good reception indoors. Usually zero to 2 bars, many lost calls. Reception is much better in Berkeley. Was this review helpful to you?
I can only get calls upstairs and while hanging my head out the East facing window. Across the street is much better. Was this review helpful to you?
Sometimes I will have 4 bars but that is usually "off-hours". Many times the call will drop or become unintelligable (after the signa strength has dropped to 1 bar). I usually have to leave the phone next to the bedroom window and use my Bluetooth headset when on the phone. There appears to be no EDGE coverage -- only GPRS and GSM. Hopefully the service providers will read these comments and do something about the less-than-acceptable coverage in this area. Not sure what carrier just installed a cell tower at Mountain and Ascot but it didn't seem to help with Cingular service. Was this review helpful to you?
