T-Mobile
I've only had t-mo for a few days, but here at home, over bay bridge, richmond bridge and through Marin, I found the coverage to be great - equal to or slightly better than my Verizon phone. Stafford Lake in Novato had no coverage. vzw phone said it had a couple of bars, but it never actually connected when I tried to check my vmail. today vzw dropped a call on Northgate at W Grand Ave, drove back that way with T-Mo and no drop.

As good as 6 / 6 bars inside my apartment, but also some dropped calls--reception inside seems widely variable over a space of a few feet. Outside reception is excellent. Coverage on the UC Berkeley campus is generally good, although spotty inside some buildings.

Absolutely no reception! Signed up with Nextel in May 2004 with great reception in this area. Few months later it went from perfect to no reception. Don't sign up with Nextel if you live in this area until they install new tower.

ever since the att&cingular merger my phone say it has signal but in and out calls fail. its usually around 3-4 bars... but the calls dont come thru so thats a lie. 2nd try the calls always work..i dont understand why the 2nd always works and the first never. I miss calls all the time but the voicemail notice comes in right away.

Almost every call whether inside or outside of building drops. Terrible service in this area.

Service never better than average. Since mid January phone says Cingular and has gotten worse, high of 3 to 2. Always dead spots at South Shore and Crown Beach. Glad there's only 5 months on TDMA. I can't upgrade to GSM without new 2 year contract with less minutes and activation fee. For that price will go Verizon out of spite.

Averge to good reception. Now its below average and half the time no signal. Don't know problem. Friend said old GSM phone might be on wrong Cingular freq. I'm in the middle of city. what gives?

I cannot make or receive calls from inside my apartment. I get a "no service" screen. If I stand outside on the sidewalk, I get fair reception, but often get cut off.

Signal strength and sound quality excellent throughout the southern to central Berkeley area, haven't tested it elsewhere yet. Callers report that my signal quality is excellent also. Subjectively, the sound quality seems at least as good as what I would get on good quality landline phones. My two previous phones, Sony Ericsson T68i and T226, were much poorer in RF performance and audio quality on the same, ATT / Cingular, GSM network.

I'm only getting 2 bars - even when I'm outside walking. I recently switched from Verizon, and quite frankly I thought their reception was great (4-5 bars usually) by comparison. Verizon was a bit screwed up in the billing dept. but that's another story. I also read some unfavorable reviews of the v220 on the web. I'm starting to believe them. I hope that Cingular can improve their reception in this area soon.
