T-Mobile

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Ashby | Fulton, Berkeley, CA 94705 |

T-Mobile has 0-2 bars, usually one. Calls dropped after 2-5 minutes. Wondering how they can sell service which they cannot actually provide. Looks like all the carriers do the same. Learned that they have one coverage map for the public, another for themselves; the latter actually indicates the lack of service in Berkeley. It helps to consider how ethical, scrupulous and upright the builders of the railroads and later the highway systems were, if only to keep the behavior of these businesses in context. Also, to keep in mind that the customer service employees are not the actual source of the consumer betrayal.

MetroPCS

2 Out of 5 (2 stars) | Harbor Bay, Alameda, CA 94502 |

I can't make phone calls at my work building on Harbor Bay. :-( I get text messages but they seem to be delayed. I have to go outside if I want to call someone. Metro works better when I'm at home on Thurles Pl. Certain areas in the house doesn't work but one room facing the window usually works. I have to go outside my friends' houses on Marianas and Mangrove to make a call.

In the past six months, Sprint telephone service has deteriorated. Almost all calls are dropped. I now rely on my land line when making calls from home.

Sprint

I've been a Sprint / Nextel customer since 1999 and never thought of switching until this year. Calls from favorites don't come through with no record of the call (they think I'm ignoring them). Did everything, new phone, Airwave, a zillion calls to customer support only to be told they've never heard of this problem from anyone else - even as I am staring at blogs with hundreds of complaints. I would switch to TMobile because of the incredible deal to payoff switching costs, but a possible merger of TMobile with Sprint is a concern. My ATT friends get good service but pay 5x as much, and my Verizon friends who are usually loyal say that calls are now dropping for them too. Something is going on with all of the carriers that no one is discussing. If only Edward Snowden worked for the phone companies, maybe something would change..

Sprint

I live at the top of the hill in Montclair, on the Piedmont side (not up towards Skyline Blvd). I cannot get reception here most of the time. Recently, at Lake Merritt, I couldn't get texts or phone calls... ... . Voicemail messages arrive a day late some times. This is terrible. Sprint = lame in Oakland.

Been with Sprint 15 years, they sold me a 4G LTE that does not work in my area for a total year. They have been talking about towers, etc are being rebuild. They kept promising it would get better in a few months which extended in the the present and still won't work in my home or neighborhood. I am paying the $200 cancellation fee so that I can get the hell away from a company that now has the worst reception. Sometimes I can't make calls, ntext, use data is impossible unless I go a mile away from my home. Well f... You Sprint I have my disconnect for February 2014. I no longer have any confidence in your product. I predict everyone will switch with the year. DONT USE SPRINT. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR NOT THE CUSTOMER.

Sprint

Sprint works well in the general Oakland area and freeways but not Oakland hills where we live. No signal uphill from Hwy. 13 to Skyline, had to get the additional home antenna booster just to use the phone in our house. Has issues with data, will lag vm msgs and have to keep re-logging in to see email. Ready to switch.

AT&T just brought a new tower online in albany: see "Finally . AT&T Wireless Service Comes to Albany" On Sprint I get almost no coverage anywhere in Albany. AFAIK that hasn't changed with the new AT&T tower.

UNBELIEVABLE. sitting here in the tech center of the country and I can't make a f*ing phone call?!?! i curse the day I switched from AT&T to Sprint. I only switched because I eventually wanted to use Ting and because of the "UNLIMITED DATA" HAHAHAHAHA well, what use is data if you get no data anywhere (you have to use wifi most of the time). i've been ABSOLUTELY stranded when i've left home expecting to be able to check info mobile, then was unable to make appointments on time because my phone absolutely refused to give up the info. i've started writing everything down again, just in case... so then, why am I paying to use paper and pen? It does work in many places, and luckily some places I frequent, but good luck in oakland anywhere. I can't make phone calls from my home!... so for that I give it no stars. no calls, no stars. f*ck you sprint.

Verizon

weak or no signal, dropped calls, bad reception slow or no data speeds, little 3G or 4G available. Verizon did trouble ticket suggesting they may be able to piggyback a "residential reception device" on the current ATT internet line. But then came back suggesting I go to another carrier and offered to waive the ETF fee? NOT the answer I was looking for...
