Verizon
Marginal coverage in main area of house. Calls often drop. No coverage in downstairs basement.

Get one to three bars and calls drop regularly. Sometimes phone indicates signal but do not receive calls or SMS which results in delayed voicemail alert.

Usually 1, 2 bars max. Horrible to no reception in this area.

Verizon has good signal and coverage throughout the East Bay and SF. I've never really had problems with dropped calls or no signal.

I just switched to ATT / Cingular. The reception is 5 bars most of the time. Drops to 3 indoors far from windows or in the elevator. My phone has 2 bars in my basememt garage where I used to not get a signal with Verizon.

I've been using Metro PCS with a RAZR V3 all around berkeley for almost a year now and I've been very happy with the coverage around here. There is no need for a landline in my room because the reception here is almost always good. Every once in a while I'll miss a call from bad reception, but in general it works great outside and solid inside.
