Verizon

3 Out of 5 (3 stars) | Fremont Blvd. | Blacow Rd., Fremont, CA 94538 |

Talk seems to work fine, and although I have never seen more than 2 bars, I have never had a call drop. 4G internet is sketchy at best. 1.5Mbps up and down max with frequent drops.

Sprint

3 Out of 5 (3 stars) | DeAnza College | Hwy. 280 / 85, Cupertino, CA 95014 |

I actually use Virgin Mobile over the Sprint Network. Connections are ok. Texting and data are much more reliable. I'm thinking of switching over to Sprint since it worked pretty well when we went to Hawaii (Oahu and Kauai). I've had AT&T previously. They were famous for dropped calls and barely 2 bars even outside. They put up an additional tower nearby so service is improved now. Too expensive for what you get.

Sprint

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Winchester | Camden, Campbell, CA 95008 |

Drop calls partway down the street. At home have a router that was supposed to help. Sprint promised better service once their towers were upgraded but still drop calls and need router to connect at home. Drop calls on commutefrom Campbell to Redwood City. So I basically pay $90 / mo. for nothing.

MetroPCS

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | SW Sunnyvale | Near Hwy. 85 , Sunnyvale, CA 94087 |

Using an outstanding mid-range LG Optimus with a Metro PCS unlimited prepay card, and the coverage and service has far exceeded my expectations. Calls incoming and outgoing are good and never dropped. Internet speed and connection always solid and fast on this 4G LTE system. Highly recommend. Phone and prepay cards purchased at Best Buy. This betters my AT&T experience by a long shot. And yet, the above products and services get such a bad rap (even at Best Buy they gave a thumbs-down)... go figure.

AT&T

2 Out of 5 (2 stars) | San Felipe | Village Parkway / Via Valverde, San Jose, CA 95135 |

ATT's voice coverage is spotty - and unless I have it in a certain position, I get dropped calls. 3G is almost non existent - even outside in the Bay Area, the 3 coverage is bad.

Verizon

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Downtown San Jose | East Side San Jose, San Jose, CA 95122 |

Consistently under 1mbps for download and upload speed. I've been running speed tests since March. I get 75mbps around Stockton, CA, and 68mbps in Los Angeles, CA, so it is not my phone. Service use to be great but now horrendous. Pretty pathetic for Silicon Valley. Paying 100% for less than 5% of service.

AT&T

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Cupertino Library, Cupertino, CA 95014 |

Near Cupertino library, 90% percent of international call var Skype or Google hangout dropped. Very poor wireless coverage, ironically it's the Hq of Apple, an area with highest expensive power.

Only used voice, but at least I got 3 or 4 bars and didn't drop the connection. So far so good.

Sprint

0 Out of 5 (0 stars) | 280 and Saratoga Ave., San Jose, CA 95129 |

I had Nextel which eventually turned into sprint. At the beginning ( about 3-4 years ago it was good), now I'm always on "extended network" with 1-0 bars, forget about watching a YouTube video and sometimes I need to make 4-5 calls to finish a conversation with a customer( I own a plumbing business). They keep saying "we are improving our towers, in two weeks everything will be back to normal". I've been hearing that for months now. It sounds like a company that is preparing to shut down and they are trying to stretch their short life for as long as possible, so when the are bought out, they can show they have thousands of clients and get more for their downhill going company. My contract ends the 28th of this month and I'm switching to verizon.
