Sprint

I just moved to San Jose from San Leandro. I thought Sprint's coverage was bad before, but now it's unusable. The voice quality at my new apartment is so bad I can't make or receive calls there. They sent me an Airave device to route calls through the internet, but that's unusable at least 90% of the time. My phone won't connect to the Airave unless I call tech support (through Skype on my laptop) and go through a tedious reset procedure. When I leave the apartment and come back, the phone won't connect again. The 4G LTE network is unusable through the whole Bay Area. The CDMA network is fast enough to stream Pandora in the car maybe 50% of the time. Looking up addresses on Google Maps is an exercise in frustration. I usually have to switch to airplane mode and switch back to get a 3G connection that works (slowly). I've decided to quit calling tech support and get out of my contract early. I just need a phone that works.

Little or no AT&T reception! Dropped calls! Can't receive calls anywhere in my home! Use to work perfectly. Something changed. What? Very expensive contract for lack of service! Hours on phone with tech people. They don't know what to do. Going to switch carriers!

Service was good for a long time. Things have changed since beginning of 2014. All our phones inside the home get a DOT / bar - outside may be 2. But the audio is scratchy and had to repeat several times. Checked with VZ support and did what they recommend me to do. Nothing has improved. Have been using Field Test (*3001#12345#*) and see that is at -111 or -114. Should normally observe -75 to -85 in this neighborhood. If I go couple blocks towards Kennedy school it improves and near De Anza College it is the best at -68. There is a VZ Cell tower and hence better signal and better data download speeds as well. Very disappointed with VZ, as their support informs that nothing has changed. Hard to believe. Both iPhone 5 and 5s show same symptoms. 4S is slightly better but still horrible data downloads. Verizon needs to seriously look in placing a Tower in the Apple's HQ City and its laughable they make phones but not promise the delivery of service. Huh... .

I have been paying $10 4G PREMIUM FEE for 4 years. 4G HAS NEVER BEEN IN THIS AREA and it never will be. You would think 4G LTE would be in this area then? No. Even years after their 4G LTE phones were released? No. Even after all these years, 1 - 2 bars, "3G" which is actually 1X, and all I get from my complaints are "call us again in a week" after I complain.

Suddenly T-Mobile 4G LTE is working with 15 to 40Mbps on my route from Fremont to Foster City with few drops to Edge Speed (few kbps). I get this speed on Note 3. On my previous Note 2, it was max 2 to 4 Mbps. 4G LTE on 92 bridge is amazing. 4 stars because still sometimes, T-Mobile cannot provide continuous coverage where it worked perfectly few hours back.

Sprint Virgin Mobil. Dropped calls and or no service with missed calls. Since Nov 2013. Boiler plate response from VM.

I have lived in the area for 2 years starting 2012. Verizon cell reception has always been bad, one bar at most in my home. I could however make calls when standing by a window upstairs in my house and I had the occasional dropped call. Lately, since the building of the stadium and all of the new construction I cannot make many calls and when I do get a call to go through it gets dropped multiple times and I cannot keep a connection for more than 2 minutes. Horrible. Verizon tells me it's my phone but I have had 3 different cell phones and everyone who comes over has a different cell phone and they can't make calls either.

Horrible reception in our house (almost none!) dropped calls. It's pointless. Will be going back to Verizon ASAP!

I live in a condo, and usually get 1-2 bars - good enough for most calls, although parts of conversations often cut out; occasional dropped calls. Verizon Support says "in-home cell reception is not guaranteed". I find this unacceptable in the middle of Silicon Valley. Verizon offered to sell me a "network extender" device ($250), which accepts the feed from the Verizon office, sent over your in-home cable internet connection to the network extender, which then broadcasts the signal inside your home, like your own mini cell tower. Not sure about going with this yet.
