AT&T

Often calls sound like they are being made under water. Calls are constantly dropped. AT&T should be forced to stop making best coverage claims in their ads.

In July of 2008, we jettisoned Sprint for AT&T and the iPhone. After eight years, Sprint finally had improved their local coverage, but they were too late to satisfy us -- we were tired of the terrible phone hardware options. On AT&T, indoor reception fluctuates between 4-5 bars here (we're between Laguna Blvd. and Elk Grove Blvd., one mile west of Bruceville Road). Initially, the local iPhone / AT&T combo was marginal at best. But Apple and AT&T quickly upgraded the iPhone 3G software and tweaked the local towers and for the most part, it's been smooth sailing ever since. As with Sprint, the local AT&T 3G network occasionally gets overloaded -- and incoming calls roll directly to voicemail rather than ring. And when traveling, we have encountered several metro areas not serviced by AT&T 3G. But the iPhone more than makes up for much of AT&T's network. It really is a joy to use. The iPhone has turned out to be a terrific cell phone AND a versatile handheld computer and gaming machine. There is no other cellular product like the iPhone.

Great reception in my apartment near the Folsom and Watt, and Folsom and Julliard intersections. Great reception going just about everywhere in Sacramento. Verizon has been amazing in reliability and reception everywhere, even in remote locals (anyone ever hear of Georgetown? I get reception out there!). In Sac, I've gotten reception all up and down Howe, Watt, and Arden. All along 50, I-5, and 80. I just wish Verizon had the iPhone 3GS, or at least a better selection of phones.

maybe its your phones that suck. I travel ll over sac and have 75%-100% coverage. actually I have that all over CA.

Reception in house and on the street is spotty. I have to move around the house to get a good spot and stay there or calls will cut out and sometimes drop. It's the same when driving around the area. There are dead spots that will completely lose a call.

only carrier we get service with in the house. tried tmobile, Verizon and sprint. having a choice would be nice...

Bars inside and outside vary from zero to three. Calls drop about 50% of the time. Even Sprint is better here.

Drops call every time as intersection is approached

Terrible reception. Constant dropped calls due to lost signal. Garbled sound. Moving on foot in any direction means the difference between intermittent connection and a lost signal. Wintertime is worse than summer.

Get 1-2 bars when I move around the house with black holes throughout the house. Some spot get zero bar even when outside the house. Sucks!
