Verizon

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Watt | Northrup, Sacramento, CA 95864 |

Inside Arden Park or Arden Manor Neighborhoods (E and W side, respectively of Watt South of Arden Way) had poor reception..Verizon drops calls inside my home in. Possible new cell tower at Arden Manor's Rushden Park for Surewest... and Verizon co-hosting here may fix this soon... I drove Arden area in 2004 with Sprint and Verizon phone in my lap, and while Sprint had few dead spots, it was consistently low-scoring, while Verizon had generally higher bars but had some holes...

Cingular's reception is really terrible on this part of Folsom Blvd.(from Watt to Bradshaw). Calls are frequently dropped and the reception bars frequently drop from full reception to none. I'm lucky if I get 2 reception bars in this area.

Sprint

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Laguna Park Dr. | Foulks Ranch Rd., Elk Grove, CA 95758 |

After five years of poor reception and well-lnown coverage gaps in the Laguna subdivisions of Elk Grove, Sprint PCS cellular signals started improving in the summer of 2005 when the company opened a store (on Laguna Blvd.near 99). Our home is located between Laguna Blvd. and Elk Grove Blvd. (about half way between 99 and I-5), just north of Laguna Lakes subdivision. In addition to the SPrint PCS Store on Laguna, Their are a couple of Nextel dealers here in town. Back in 2000, we barely received 1 bar of signal strength inside our house south of Foulks Ranch School. In the fall of 2005, we finally have a full 5 bars! Aside a mediocre selection of business phones and features, Sprint's Sanyo models provide the best cellular reception, Samsung probably are the worst. Sprint's biggest problem now may be tower capacity (bandwidth). Often, my phone never rings and just rolls directly to voice mail, and I've been told by some that this is a sign that the towers are operating at capacity...

T-Mobile has pretty good reception in my area. Not many dropped calls, even in my house!

AT&T

0 Out of 5 (0 stars) | I-5 / Pocket Rd., Sacramento, CA 95831 |

Formerly contracted with AT&T which Cingular bought out. I had better service with AT&T, then when Cigular came on board, my bars went from three to one. As of 10 / 02 / 05 something changed; my phone shows no service and I have to drive 3 miles to get a signal. The funny thing is that my wife's Cingular phone shows 3 bars of coverage and we're in the same house! We're both GSM. Cingular says because her phone is on the Orange Band which has Towers within 3 miles of our home. My office cell phone is on the Blue Band which is supported by a Tower over 10 miles away. I think Cingular is going to lose a customer.

AT&T

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Elk Grove Blvd. | Waterman, Elk Grove, CA 95624 |

When on my AT&T TDMA phone my reception was great. I then made the switch to Sprint PCS and my reception went right down the tubes. Things were so bad that I made the move back to AT&T. At that time I was "forced" to a GSM phone and plan and went with a Motorola V220 phone. The reception I received now is poor (1 bar same as Sprint) around the house. If I drive a half-mile in any direction it improves (2-3 bars) but it is never as good or clear as my TDMA phone was. So much for new technology and mergers. I am currently swapping out the V220 with a Motorola V551 and am getting a new SIM card too. Customer Service says it can't be the coverage, must be the phone. So much for unlimited nights and weekend calling from the house. Makes me feel so satified when I watch the "More bars everywhere" commercials on TV.

T-Mobile

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Westlake, Sacramento, CA 95835 |

I've always had poor coverage with T-Mobile in North Natomas. I recently got a Motorola V180. The T-Mobile with the V180 is worse than ever. Every call is dropped. A horrible phone and a pretty bad carrier
