T-Mobile
I had alot of dropped calls and for some unknown reason people complained they could not call me. After T-Mobile heard my screams for the 100th time a friend discovered that my pre-fix 989 was in Hilo, of the big island. Finally I got it changed to a 808-258 number and all was great. Now I am back from the Mainland and I was given a 203 prefix. In checking it sure its a Honolulu Prefix thru a Time Warner Holding company and is listed as a Landline. So when I call them shortly and tell them to change it again I will raise cane! For Honolulu I would stick to 218, 255, 258, 358, 381, 382, 383, 384, 386, just to name a few. #1 make sure it is correct island, #2 make sure it is a T-Mobile prefix not a holding company. and #3 make sure it is a cell prefix not land line. Live in a Cond and have no problems with reception or dropped calls. As for other parts of the island never had a problem with Verizon from any parts of the island. Been in remote places like Kaena Pt with 2 bars of reception, no less then 3 bars out in Kahaluu (Mtn.area), Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens, Dillingham Air Strip, Whillamina Rise. No problem in elevators also. The cell phone can make a difference too. Had a different cell before and I couldn't get no reception in the Waikele Shopping area (accross from Kmart) where the buildings are made of steel. I also had problems if shopping in the far end of Walmart Kunia and Walmart and Sams in Pearl City. With this phone I have no problems now.

Reception is good but that's it. My wife and I both have the same plan and phone and neither one of us can stay connected. We have dropped calls every single time we call someone up to ten in one conversation for my wife. I'm returning these phones and cancelling my contract tomorrow. Verizon is garbage for us in Ewa Beach.

I have never received a call that I didn't have to return myself because the reception here is absolutely horrible. AT&T is fully aware of the situation and offers no remedy. My phone and the second phone on this bill always drop calls and not just at home. I despise AT&T's reception and attitude. I'm switching to another evil and buying an Ooma for the home.

I can't be the only one on this street with poor reception. Even tried a booster. :(

I have never had any problems with T-Mobile. I'm the only one in my group who can get reception on Molokai with no problems. My friends have AT&T and they are always complaining about dropped calls. I can even get reception in the H3 Tunnel!

I have had a simple Nokia phone and have always had excellent coverage and no dropped calls for the past five years with T-Mobile.

T-Mobile pretty much sucks in any building. I worked down at the Haseko Bldg on Mililani Mall and I had to stand near a window to get a bar. That was my Blackberry Curve 8320. Then I got a job at 841 Bishop St.and my phone wouldn't work in that building either. So I got a Nexus One when my contract was up and stayed with T-Mobile. Shouldn't have. T-Mobile has such a crappy reception in a building. I ask people who talk on their phones in my elevators who their carrier is and they all say AT&T. So I'm switching as soon as I feel comfortable enough to pay the penalty to get out of my T-Mobile AND Google plans.

Terrible reception on both Verizon and AT&T, was bad on Sprint, too. Seem incapable of properly servicing the Kahaluu area.

I always get great 3g whenever we travel around the area. I've had T-Mobile and it was ok and Verizon was ok to good but I have had excellent service with AT&T here
