This area (around Nike's main WHQ campus) is horrible for Verizon's LTE service. Just to get text messages I have to disable LTE and use 3G. This is a very populous area of Beaverton and it's not excusable for the #1 cell phone company to have such spotty data service.

Ever since I left T Mobile (they overcharged me on the rates and new customers got a cheaper rate and the full pkg and paid less than what I was being charged for getting only 1000 min. and no text) and went to Sprint, I have regretted it. Thought I would get better coverage and comparable plan. Well, ever since I switched, right off the bat the service was terrible. I live on a hill and I GET THE WORST RECEPTION EVER! I called customer service repeatedly and it was one excuse after the other. In the first year I probably had maybe a total of 5 months that I could actually make a call as the service was so poor. They would only take off $25 or I should say credit my account! What a total rip off! They finally sent me an Air Rave that should have boosted the signal. It helps a little but not much. Thank God I didn’t have to pay for that. I had to get a better phone so then was roped into getting one from them again and have been locked into another contract. I now need another phone and have several months’ till my 2 yr. contract is up. I went to a Sprint store and they told me up front that the phones they make they make them to last only a year. I am not going to be railroaded into another upgrade and have to pay $200 to get another phone and another 2 yr. contract. I am going to go shop the market and find a phone that I can use no matter who I wind up signing up with, buy it outright, stay and finish my contract with Sprint so I don’t have to pay a fee to leave Sprint and then go wherever I want and not be locked into a contract! These phone companies need to be taught a lesson that they can’t just push us around. I’m sick and tired of it! I hope this information can help anyone in the same predicament.

Sprint signal not as advertised on coverage map. Sprint says 4G LTE is best in my area, but at best 2 bars outside with phone pointed at tower on Mt. Tabor 6 blocks away.

Verizon

5 Out of 5 (5 stars) | Glencoe Area | Corey and Evergreen, Hillsboro, OR 97124 |

Have been with Verizon for ever, great coverage nationwide, Ive gotten 3 bars in basements in Anchorage, Dallas and NYC, 4 bars at home. Never a dropped call, great 4g service in areas that offer it. Expensive, yes. But if stability and coverage footprint are important choose the best network. Sprint always sucked, dropped calls transitioning between towers.

Cricket

5 Out of 5 (5 stars) | Beaverton, Portland, OR 97229 |

I have Straightalk not cricket but it wasn't an option. I have NEVER had a problem with my service or reception. I pay $45 a month for unlimited. I opted not to renew my contract with Sprint years ago and have not regretted it! In fact, such great reception I have stood in the middle of a forest or field and still have internet and service! Even in parking garages below ground! Ha! Try it! Save yourself money and heartache!

Verizon

I get 1 to 3 bars at home and at the office which is about 3 miles away. Common to have dropped calls or poor quality. Seems to work fine in some areas but not where I use it most.

Verizon is usually very good for me, but in my office, pretty much smack in the middle of Portland, I get horrendous service. We're talking texts that seem to stall and don't send or receive for several minutes, NO data service, though calls seem to work ok. I am very unhappy with this dead zone that I work in. Verizon really needs to boost it's signal in the Lloyd Center area.

I've had cricket since 2007 and I've never had a problem. Thinking about moving to the Seatte-Tacoma area, I've been up there and have had no problems!

AT&T

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Parkrose Area | I205 and Sandy Blvd., Portland, OR 97220 |

AT&T has degraded the 2G network to the point it doesn't work. Kept it hidden until the "upgrade" the 1st of 2014, now trying to blame the customer. had a so called "manager" call me and tell me they updated the towers for the 4G LTE and had to make room. that was taking out the 2G service. so basic phone usage is now GONE in Portland, OR. Lies and misinformation is the AT&T byword now.

My phone service drops almost every call I make or receive at my house located near the Nike Campus. Calls that don't manage to get dropped are so choppy that I can't understand the other person, and they can't hear me which is almost more irritating than the dropped calls. I work downtown and have very similar problems there as well. I hate my service and if it weren't for the cancelation fee I would have dropped it already. Luckily I have a work cell phone that runs through Verizon, it doesn't seem to have these problems, so I use it for most calls. Also note that my fiance has cell service through AT&T and his phone works fine at our house.
