Im beginning to get fed up with Sprint PCS. With connection failing on me and then looking at the charges on the bill is becoming a nuisance since being charged without even getting a decent conversation to last even 2 minutes due to the connection. Also using Sprint service and calling up customer service, they even have trouble hearing me is ridiculus.

I have the old analog phone and nothing has worked better, so I have kept the service. It's actually AT&T I still have the plan even though Cingular took over. I tried the new digital phones and switched back immediately to my old plan and nothing works better. If you don't still have the old plan your stuck because you can't purchase analog anymore to much power in bandwidth I guess. Nothing else comes close to this, has been great where all other phones have failed, unless you have a satellite phone. I use T-Mobile for my majority talk time because so cheap and is ok, some areas poor reception but can live with that.

Sometimes out at the end of the driveway or out in the middle of the road we are able to use the phone.

It's clear that this new age of the cell phone is a giant scam. I knew it when Cingular and before ATT wireless was so eager to push me into the "new" great thing called GSM. It's really simple, in order to create what they hope is a huge extra profit stream from mindless and unnecessary functions, beyond making voice calls and text messaging. I had a Motorola V60 for three years, it performed like a dream everywhere in Oregon. The phone took tons of abuse. I was was using of the "old" bad technology. I would rate the reliability at 99.5%. Of course, the phone eventually wore out. Then I get the flyer welcoming me to join the new phone elite, 6 billion dollars invested in the network, new way cool Razr phone, rollover, on the B.S. goes in the flyer. I think well maybe, just maybe, my theory is wrong, maybe this will be good, give it a shot. From day one the nightmare begins, from all points within a 3 mile radius of my home the phone cannot get and keep a signal strong enough for me to be able to hear. even with the volume maxed. Mind you, this is Lake Oswego, mind you my junk V60 with the "bum" old technology never had this problem, having been dropped at least 500 times and the antenna being superglued back to the unit. So, I call Cingular having just received the new GSM phone, tell them I have major problems, they say we'll send you another phone, another Nokia, same problem. Now I know it's the network. I don't like the massive radiation of the Nokia so I say swtich me to a Razr because even if you can get the network problem fixed I still don't want this Nokia, so they send me a Razr. Tech support then calls me and says the network problem should be fixed. Try your phone tomorrow it should work great. Guess what it's still sucks. So now I know to throw in the towel on them, it surely is the glorious GSM working it's magic. I can do everything except make a call with the phone. wonderful! I am renting a camera, glued to an ipod, stapled to a web browser but I can't call the pharmacy. If I were 14 years old I would be amused but I am not. The trick is that in order to allow for all the nonsense features of photos, web browsing, music downloads, and all the rest of it, ALL the companies had to degrade the quality of a key element, the basic phone call. Bandwidth is not infinite, so the more crap they pack into the signal the less there is available for making just a basic call. The junk features are taking up all the resources, so now there is no room for the actual phone call. Sounds crackpot huh? Well, how about if I told you I canned Cingular and just today switched to T-Mobile and I now have the same exact same problem. I am going to be going back a pager real soon. Signed, disgusted. If anybody knows of an old fashioned actual cell phone carrier that is interested in getting paid to simply facilitate phone calls please post it here.

my qwest wireless servis works some what good in my apartment but it drops when I am on a conversation with friends or checking my minutes of use while inside the building. but, when I go outside, no problem. I talked to a qqwest wireless servis person about this and they said it's the tower, and not the phone. they also said that they are working on this problem and when it's done, my phone will update according to new touar Availability. I guess when you are on the lower level of your own apartment, that might be the problem also. But other than that, grate servis everywhare else I go in the city of portland, oregon

Looks like it's real hit and miss with any phone or service. I started with AT&T years ago and then Cingular when they switched me over and never had any reception or dropped call problems throughout the Portland metro area, including Tigard and Sherwood. That is until my last move, last February, into the Hollywood area. Admittedly, living in the basement of an old brick building will dampen the signal, but having to walk a block away to an open parking lot everytime to make or receive any calls is getting tiresome. But there's the contract and I don't want to pay for both a cell and land line. I also had started a new job in Oregon City (on the hill above The Home Depot and the dump) and received bad coverage there also. I wonder if there is a connection? Who knows...

Always good reception, no problems around town (incl. tigard, tualitin, I-5 / Barbur, clackamas, beaverton, etc..). Some issues on 'Bonny Slope' area west of downtown over the mountain / hill thing (thompson road). No other carriers work there, either, however. Text messages do, but no voice.

We purchase two Samsung phones on a two year contract at the Oregon City store located on McLoughlin Blvd. We asked to check the computer map showing the signal strength in the area of our home and my shop just down the road. The map showed green indicating a strong signal. based on that we entered into the contract. The signal is anything but strong. The two worst locations for our phones are inside our home and at my shop. I asked Mitch, Mgr. at the Cingular store to have some one check on the signal strength in our area. After not hearing from him I went to the store and asked why I haven't heard from anyone as he promised. He checked his records and disclosed he forgot to notifiy them. After 4 months I still haven't heard from anyone. Cingular has lowered the bar!
