I can barely make a call at all in this dead zone around my house. T-Mobile works fine here, but Cingular does not.

In my apartment here, reception averages 2 bars. By going out into the parking lot, I might average 3 bars on a good day. If the phone conversation lasts for 10 minutes, chances are 1 in 3 that the call will drop. If the conversation goes for 20 minutes, chances increase to 1 in 2. If the conversation lasts longer, the call WILL drop. Multiple times. The cell tower database on this website indicates that the 2 closest poles in a downhill direction are owned by Cingular and AT&T. If it weren't for this little fact, then I would have cancelled my contract already. With the possible exception of T-Mobile, there doesn't seem to be good phone karma here. Guess I'll just have to deal with it for the rest of my time here in bug-infested Mountain Park.

Cingular is awsome all round. I hav't had many problems and even used to have them when they where ATT! They where good then, I had a simiens phone. Plain an simple though. Cingular RULES! CDMA (Limited use technology) GSM (Used Around World) So if the world uses it. Why keep somthing that is going to go away soon? bye bye CDMA!

I live in Seattle area and travel to Oregon a lot. I have been on my cell phone many times and never droped a call while driving down I-5. Before I upgraded my phone I droped many calls, most of the time it is your phone not your netwrok.

Constantly drop calls. Verizon has mentioned that this is based on the number of hills between my location and the tower location. The good news is that they will building a new cell phone tower in 2007 that is closer. The problem is that they dont have a specific date. So it could be constructed anywhere between 1 / 1 / 2007 and 12 / 31 / 2007.

Everytime I get on the phone in or within a block of my house it will end up in a dropped call. Sometimes I can stand in a particular spot by my back door and can have a sustained conversation. Other than that my phone works everywhere else in Portland and the surrounding areas.

Very poor reception on Hensley just east of 257th. Go a block in any direction and then its good. Same with Marine Dr.just west of the airport near Salty's. Otherwise the general PDX area has been very good. It usually even works going throught the Hwy. 26 tunnel.

T-Mobile is nearly useless in NE Portland. Dropped calls, intermittent reception and poor connections. The company says nothing is wrong in that area, so I guess they aren't planning to fix it.
