T-Mobile

2 Out of 5 (2 stars) | Seattle - Capitol Hill, Seattle, WA 98102 |

I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile because it was about $10 cheaper a month and provided free unlimited international texting and data and I was traveling abroad a lot. 1. International data is edge speed. Still better than nothing though and google maps saved me so many times so fine. Slow but free, I'll take it. 2. Domestic coverage around Seattle is THE WORST. I find myself staring at an "E" on the top left of my iphone. EDGE?? not even with my first iphone in 2008 did I see edge network unless I was traveling through bumpkin land. I walk to work, north along Melrose in Capitol Hill right by the 5 freeway and I can't get anything. Seriously, I am in the middle of Seattle, wide open, and no reception. My spotify stops playing, I can't check instagram, it is the WORST. (not really, but it's funny to be dramatic about 1st world problems). 3. I am constantly getting 2 and 3 bars which I almost never saw with AT&T which provided almost always 5 bars, sometimes 4. I'm sorry, I thought T-Mobile was HQed in the greater Seattle area in Factoria. 2 or 3 bars? Is this 2001? WTF mate. 4. So I am saving $10 a month, and I probably saved about $60 in international data roaming charges, but I am constantly dealing with data deadzones and a 300% increase in dropped calls. Worth it?? 5. When the iphone 6 drops, I am headed back to AT&T.

Just switched to AT&T from Verizon and so glad I did. Much better reception in my home and throughout downtown area. Where I got 0-1 bars with Verizon I get 3-4 bars with AT&T. Haven't had any dropped calls.

Zero to one bars in my apartment. Very spotty throughout downtown Seattle area. In some areas, you may have bars but no data will go through. Very frustrating. Just switched to AT&T and MUCH better reception and performance all around.

No reception at our home and almost none around our home. We can use Wi-Fi in the house (which is great) but middle school kids out about in the neighborhood and walking home from school get one to no bars of coverage in a 15 block radius.

Verizon

Since Verizon introduced 4G coverage has deteriorated. Consistently dropped calls, using their air card unable to retain a strong enough signal to transfer data.

No reception, run out of data even though they say unlimited. Customer service is horrible. There is a new carrier down the street called Aio Wireless. Way better truly unlimited everything and great people, on the ball and know what they are doing. So glad there is another option for us.

Sprint

5 Out of 5 (5 stars) | 32nd Ave. | East Howell St., Seattle, WA 98122 |

Virgin Mobile (on Sprint prepaid network) 5 bars. I actually use my phone (HTC EVO 3D) as a voice communication device. 2500+ min / month. I rarely drop calls, generally 1 or 2 per month, generally while driving through a known poor reception area, 23rd Ave and E Cherry st. In 18 months I have had great coverage in all advertized good coverage areas. One cannot expect coverage where Sprint indicates there isn't any.. My suggestion for those with coverage issues is to update the PRL often, this is a must in the CDMA realm. I'm on this site researching the current actual Sprint 4G LTE coverage around Seattle as my device is in need of eventual replacement, and uses the old proprietary WiMax (Clearwire) for it's 4G solution, and any replacement will be LTE.

Verizon

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | Edmonds Way | 100th, Edmonds, WA 98020 |

We used to get at least 2 bars... now none at the house, barely 1 bar of 1x in the street. Signal got worse downtown, at they ymca, neighbors, etc. I called in a ticket. Edmonds was always a marginal area... HOWEVER... a tech at the Verizon store and another one at tech support said they built 2 new antennas an moved the angles, so some areas now get better and everyone else gets none. Please... .Please call in a ticket to report no or poor signal. They will only do something if multiple people complain. They said there was only 1 other ticket for 98020. If we all call it in, they may retweak the antennas for better coverage. Thaks

If you live in Edmonds and specifically Firdale Village there is essentially NO or very very poor reception with VERIZON. I was STUCK in a 3 year contract with VERIZON. I had 0 to no bars and they would not let me out of the contract. There customer service was horrible and they are one thing but I'll say it three times, greedy, greedy and greedy. DO NOT use VERIZON. I also understand that SPRINT is even worse if that is possible.

I frequently do not receive incoming calls (straight to voicemail) and it usually takes 5+ seconds before my outgoing calls start to ring. My work phone is AT&T and works significantly better.

My sister and I are TRYING to figure out which cell provider to switch to or continue with based on service and affordability. Currently, we use Sprint. This week, I am house sitting and I'm lucky to have 1 out 5 bars inside and I can get 3 bars outside but I'll completely lose the whole signal in the blink of an eye. Call quality (IF the call even comes in) is horrible and the few I've received and / or made have dropped at least twice. I switched to texting everyone of my personal contacts but that doesn't help when I'm trying to make a doctors appt or talk to someone at the bank. Texts take time to send as well. I'm using their wifi so data hasn't been too bad. I live in the Bill Point community and I've been "surviving" with Sprint there. The service is better there than here for sure. But, that's obviously not saying much. My sister and I both have Sprint. Separate accounts. She has a Galaxy something, top of the line and I have the iPhone 4. We literally sit on opposite sides of a standard size couch and I have a fair signal and she has none. could someone explain dem apples? Unfortunately, I think we BI'ers are just stuck with crappy cell service, regardless of carrier, until someone with some clout forces whomever is in charge of allowing new towers into allowing / begging providers for more towers.

My Mom, Dad, and I had AT&T, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS in the past, and while out of these AT&T offers good service, Verizon's overall package is better. Verizon doesn't drop any calls, has perfect 4G LTE coverage, and has the best customer service hands down. I know several people on Sprint that are eager to get on Verizon when their contract is up. Like I said, AT&T is good, but Verizon is better.
