Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Boost are Not Recommended here. Signal drops in and out of coverage all over Milwaukie, Gladstone, lower Oregon City, Oak Grove, Oak Lodge and Jennings Lodge. Third phone from VMUSA, all did same thing.

Switched in 2006 from Verizon to ATT. With Verizon I was constantly having dropped calls and was not able to use my phone inside my mobile home. ATT is much better... ..rarely have dropped calls, consistantly get 5 bars

Every day its a dropped call, I have to go outside to even get someone to hear me. Choppy and distorted most messages do not go through on the first try. Event though my area has coverage according to their map, it does not.

Cricket

1 Out of 5 (1 star) | W Burnside | W Burnside and NW 23rd Ave., Portland, OR 97205 |

I marked poor (1 bar), even though I get three bars, because my phone service is frequently terrible. Most often people on the other end of the line can only make out a word here or there that I am speaking. My last phone (a Motorola W315) was wonderful. The Cricket CAPTR II stinks! I upgraded becaue my Motorola was old, and the battery was getting weak. I have had my CAPTR six days, and Cricket is requiring a $20 Warranty return fee in order to exchange it in store, even though they have acknowledged that the phone is defective. And I'm not sure what the remedy will be if the next phone of the same model has the same problems. The other option is to return the phone for the manufacturer's warranty, which will take 3-6 weeks to return! I'm pretty pissed right now. I loved my Cricket service with my Motorola, but I'm now seeing the evil side of Cricket, and I'm seriously thinking of switching to Straight Talk. I couldn't get treated any worse for my 3 1 / 2 as a good, paying, customer.

AT&T

2 Out of 5 (2 stars) | Taylors Ferry Rd. | 61st Ave., Portland, OR 97219 |

I work from my home, located at Taylors Ferry and 61st in PDX, and use my phone a lot. Rarely does a day go by that I don't drop a voice call. Recently, after dropping three important calls in one day, I installed an AT&T Micro-Cell 3G Tower ($200) and it helps somewhat better. It plugs into your Broadband Internet connection and converts a locally produced 3G signal into a VoIP (voice over IP connection). The problem I have is that my phone alternates between the Micro-Cell 3G signal and the 3G Tower signal depending where I am in my house. Although I don't drop calls as often, sometimes I get very poor voice quality on the Micro-Cell using VoIP. This is in spite of the fact that I have a 10mbit business class cable modem with plenty of available bandwidth in both directions.

Moved here a couple of months ago and although I don't use my phone much for actual calls, I've noticed I can't use streaming audio / video services like Rdio and Netflix. Connection drops in and out frequently. If I'm walking towards downtown, it'll suddenly get better around Jefferson or Morrison Streets walking from SW / PSU area. Lame.

Quite good reception, but I am in an office with a window which helps. Have had no dropped calls here at work.

Been with T-Mobile for 5 years at this location with an old Nokia phone... never have any reception problems... even in the basement. Quite happy with service!
