Great reception with my new Cricket phone. Much better than my old Cingular, with better voice quality and far, far fewer drops. It may be inexpensive, but it works great!

i was really skeptical about cricket at first but gave it a try anyways and I couldnt be more happy. I live in happy valley outside of clackamas and even out there I get great service. in the 3 months i've had there service i've only dropped a whopping 2 calls. Overall advise is to try it out cause I was told they'd be so so but ended up being amazing with out ever goin over a phone bill :) never a penny over 52.10 a month with web.. everything.

I've had my Cricket phone for a little over two months and I have to report that they have built a very solid network in Portland. I switched from Cingular where it seemed I was dropping every third or fourth call. Cricket has had high call quality in areas that Cingular and Verizon just don't preform very well. I travel to Mt. Hood, the Oregon Coast, and to Central Oregon occasionally and Cricket's roaming works very well. I'm sold on Cricket. Flat rate. No contract. Works good.

Couln't be worse... When you can't step outside you know its bad service. Garbled and dropped. Voicemail alert is slow too. Someone would leave a message and I wouldn't get it for a long while.

Always get 5 Bars around the neighborhood, sometimes 4. I never had 2 bars in this area. Great voice quality, great reception.

I'm in a new development at the end of Fischer Rd behind King City and the coverage here is poor.

The phone works pretty well in a lot of places, and poorly in others. It seems that 162nd in portland is a 'dead zone'. I dont get ANY reception in my house (theres 2 decent spots, 1 by my window, and one in my bed... other then that its 1 or 0 bars.). I thought it was just Sprint but my Ex had a phone that was just as bad (i think it was cingular). She couldnt get Texts or call inside my house (or anywhere on 162nd for that matter). Im planning on getting a Helio, hopefully it gets better reception.

on my last post, I said that this phone is vary accessible to blind and visually impaired people who can not read the phone's screen as far as caller ID, and knowing how many bars of signal strength they have. This phone will announce all that including the menu options you scroll through, as well as announcing if you are out of the servis area or not. Every where I go, I have 6 bars total. But even at 2-3 bars the phone picks up the signal vary vary well. But, in order to have the phone announce caller ID, and menu options out loud to you, it must be in announce mode. There are several ways to do this. go to menu, voice, sound modes, and select announce mode, and highlight on or off. Press OK. Or press the left voice command key and scroll to that option and press ok. Note. The phone will announce the command option you are scrolling to. Or say announce into the ear piece or speaker. Then you should hear the phone say, announce mode activated if you turn it on or deactivated if you turn it off. Conclusion. For thoughs of you sited people out there who have this phone, I am sorry that you guys were having so much trouble with it. This depends on a variety of things. either the phone was dropped on a hard serfis that made it degrade performance over 3 months, or it just was defected in general. But Over all, this LGVX4650 from Verizon wireless is a beautiful phone that helps out blind people like me in thoughs ways that I have said before. This is a grate beautiful phone that works well, and because you sited people had so much trouble with it, I'm vary sorry to here that. If you have not done so already, call Verizon and let them know you would like to upgrade to a better phone that will suit your needs. but wait until your new every 2-year registerd comes along.
